Also a mention for Scott Dann who is now showing what a good player he is with Palace.

This is the only position where I've considered putting someone in who didn't play in the Prem for us (Scott Dann). However I'm going for Babb and Breen. 1990s.

No I don't think he was better but I always felt he was a good servant of the club

Right. Just never heard his name mentioned before in terms of good players who have played for us.

Think we've had a fair few quality centre halves over the years haven't we, Curtis, Barry, Gillespie, Breen, Holton, Peake, Parker, Babb, Dann, Killer.

Got to be Peake and Dublin. Killer worth a shout aswell.

We have had good central defenders Peake, Gillespie, Holmes, Parker, Blockley, Barry, Babb, Holton, Dann, Curtis.....

But no one has mentioned George Mason a great player and loyal servant.

You have to look at it as a defensive duo. So you need the typical robust centre half and the more adept defensive distributor alongside.

So Kilkline and Gillespie it has to be.

The problem with this type of poll, fun as it is, is that anyone post 70's never saw Gillespie and he was one if the very few star players we had.

Can't believe Breen is being mentioned here I thought he was awful and wouldn't even get into my top ten centre halves. Surprised some of the younger fans haven't mentioned big Mo yet !

The thing is that the football has changed too.
Imagine Ronaldo skipping past Killer the first couple of times, the third time wouldn't have been pleasent☺

Hmmm. I won't pick Babb because I put him at left back. I saw Gillespie, but not when he was good. Dublin was class, but I'm going to nominate him later.

Got to go with a pair who played in top flight so unfortunately that rubies out George Curtis due to his breaking a leg in his second match so I go for Scottish centre half the brilliant Roy Barry and Trevor Peake how he never got into the England squad is a mystery
