Cracking finish at Old Trafford in 89. We've had a lot more 'shocking' top flight strikers than Bannister.
Gayle, Harford, Lightbourne, Jackson, Withey, Bamber, Brazil, Culpin, Livingstone, Zuniga and Drinkell to name a few since 1983.

Bloody hell Withey was crap. Do you remember a loan player called Tommy Langley, he was with us in the first Gould reign. He was absoloute shite.
I remember Bamber scoring the winner at Highbury, but he didnt last a whole season with us.
I thought Livingstone did well when he got in the team and went on a good scoring run, but then seemed to fall away, and the club seemed pleased to move him and Dobson onto Blackburn.

Late 70s is when I first went but was quite young and although I had all the posters and collected the panini stickers (which is the real reason I could name that op team too), the late 80's was more my era. My favourite team ever though would be late 90s entertainers hopefully more good times still to come.

Looking at kits and noticing that Huddersfield are now seemingly playing in part sky blue, does anyone know how that came about?

If you look here Huddersfield were pretty much consistently dark blue and white stripes all the way from 1918 to 1997. Suddenly since then they turned sky blue for a while and though they fluctuated and went back to dark blue a few times, for the last five years they have had sky blue and white striped kits.
Anyone know the reason? You would have thought the fans wouldn't be happy. At least we are the Sky Blues!

Firstly, a few of the team back then. John Austin, Lol Harvey, Peter Hill, Jimmy Hill, Roy Kirk, Alan Moore, Colin Colindridge, Dennis Uphill, Charlie Timmins, Ray Sambrook, Ken Mcpherson. Ken Jones, Iain Jamieson, Noel Simpson and George Curtis !
I was 14 that season and, although I had been going to Highfield Road since 1952, this was the season when I became hooked. Gates were around 7 - 8,000 prior to our relegation to Division Four (now Division Two). After relegation gates rocketed as we sought promotion back to Divison Three, vying with Port Vale for top spot, reaching 28,000 for one game. The atmosphere back then was great ! Rattles, singing, no violence. Highfield Road was a typical old fashioned, dated stadium and I loved it.
Like most teenagers I wecomed the changes introduced, but saddened we changed our strip. Everything seemed to be going forward at such a fast pace as football changed into the modern game we know now,
But I have my memories !

First game was March 77 v Spurs, was shocked by how green the highfield road pitch was (recognise green is the usual colour of grass) but also how orange Ian Wallace's hair was. 1-1 and I think Wallace scored

A player who I didn't appreciate until after he was gone was Cyrille, took it for granted that a target man could control a ball wiith ease on thigh / chest and pass to his own player. It wasn't until he was replaced by Paul Furlong who spent most of the game chasing his first touch that I appreciated Cyrille. Not sure the same would ever be said about Doyle & Hughes.

Cyrille's goal return was very poor, but he was a great target man to lay the ball off for others.

My first game was a win over Charlton in late '88 but I was still a bit young to really take it all in so what I'd consider my era would probably be between 93-98 kind of time. I remember nearly everything about that time whereas I have barely any recollection of a lot of the past decade. That could be the age showing mind you.

Cyrille should have scored more but his first 18 months were wasted under Don Mackay (how did he ever become our manager) Silett got the best out of him, Butcher sold him on a couple of sesons too early. A genuine a top player, one of the main reasons why we won the FA cup.

Dad had a season ticket but uncle took me and brother to first few games
on the kop 75/76 .Then next season dad got us season tickets with him
pin the sky blue stand, stayed there for a couple of years.We then moved
to the upper west stand.we used to stand at the front at H-T and look down
at the fighting masses in the west end when it was split home and away.
Used to find the whole experience fascinating,
sometimes we even used to watch the football
first game was against Everton & I think it was 1-2

Saw everything through Sky Blue tinted glasses . great days .
My first match was the FA Cup 3rd round against Hull City in 1973. We won 3-0. Stein scored 2.
In the above picture I'd have been stood behind Harry Roberts just down from the smelly bogs!

First game i watched was with my father on Boxing day 1967..1-1 against Liverpool..Ian St John was sent off for nutting Brian Lewis.First game i went to on my own was a 4-1 win against Everton in 1972.I do remember a certain Chris Chilton scoring 2....and boy was he a crap player.

My first game was City v Norwich in October 1980 we lost 1-0, I also remember going to the Sky Blue Connection in the morning for 6-a-side then going to the match in the afternoon
