And ? They make their own personal choices about what they want to put in their body .

Not really - any athlete who freely puts whatever they like in their body, whether it’s food, alcohol, drugs, or medicine, will quickly find themselves out of a job. They have a responsibility to keep themselves in the best shape they can, and clearly the smartest way for them to do that right now involves getting the vaccine. Clearly Robins and the medical staff know that, and hopefully the players get the message - hopefully they encourage a few City fans to do the same!

Well it depends how many and who as well. If it’s just Bright then his talent alone will produce enough antibodies for the whole squad

Amazing.. and quite likely he’s not the only one thinking that way. At least the Premier League have made a ruling on it

I’d have no less objection to insisting they get the vaccine than I would to insisting they don’t eat Maccy D’s for every meal. We’re not usually very patient when footballers make bad decisions with their personal lives that could affect their game, and I’m not going to start here.

If a footballer is caught on the piss they get slaughtered for it, weird how not having a vaccine is acceptable though

I am repulsed at the thought of anybody being forced to take a vaccine , and it's a worrying precident to set .

Having a drink of beer and and having a vaccination are in no way shape or form comparible

I suppose the difference here is we wouldn’t be mandating them not to put something in their bodies, but mandating them to put something in which they have some objection to.

What conspiracy theories have I invented?

To suggest that we should force our players to vaccinate or dock their wages is a contribution of significantly lower intelligence than what I have said.

But they are, unless you genuinely think there is something dodgy in the vaccine? How many fit & healthy sportspeople have have any complications from vaccines? Careers have been shortened & in some cases blown thanks to booze though

I haven't seen it but he's done well stealing a wage the last few years off Everton, he's not looked upon fondly up there.

Every vaccination carries some risk however small ..

I get vaccinated every year with the flu jab , and I've had both covid jabs ...it's a risk I was willing to take ..through CHOICE .

everybody should be given the choice its quite simple

As above, the difference here is you’d be saying ‘you must have this injected into you or you get fined’.

Same as if a player showed up hungover and ended up missing games through boozing. That’s personal choice too, with consequences.

The big difference is they have chosen to consume whatever it is. The injections are technically invasive and there’s a difference saying they must have that versus they must not eat junk food or drink booze

Plenty of countries and industries already mandate vaccines or other medical treatments for all kinds of conditions, but ultimately it’s up to the players as to whether they want to be in peak condition, and it’s in everyone’s interests that they listen to the science. If Jodi Jones turned round and said he didn’t want ACL surgery because he’d heard it might cause infertility, would we give him the benefit of the doubt and tell him we’ll wait until he gets better on his own terms, or would we just sack him off?

If our players were all 80 years old, you might have a point, but they aren't.

You are comparing apples and oranges and proving that this agenda goes further than just 'health and wellbeing'.

Robins is smart, he knows that forcing people isn't the right way. Instead he will opt for the education route, which will no doubt have more success.

I know we are going full circle here, but this is like the remain campaign. Forcing and pushing ideas onto people does not work. It will have the opposite effect. Same applies here.

Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do to mandate vaccines ..

Educate people fair enough , urge them fair enough .

Force them ...big no

It doesn't matter anyway .

Robins has stated he won't force them , he hopes they do and that's the correct attitude to have .

There is no difference

Players choose what to do with their bodies. Nobody is advocating they are forced. But if they choose not to get vaccinated and end up missing games- that’s a big problem.

They need to be accountable for their actions, they shouldn’t get a free pass due to ‘hidden agendas’ and all that garbage

Not getting surgery for an ACL and letting it heal on its own versus coronavirus and the vaccine is another apples and oranges comparison.

Plenty of countries and industries in western civilisation do not mandate vaccines. That is completely incorrect. We already had this discussion on the off-topic thread and several posters ended up disappearing with their tails between their legs.

I am sure the club are trying to persuade the remaining players to see the obvious benefits of getting the jab. In terms of injury recovery I’m less certain as I don’t know what’s written into their contracts in terms of consent to medical procedures, likewise whatever insurance the club takes out on them.

I want them all vaccinated but threatening fines or worse for not doing it can only end badly.

You sound like a dictator

They should be held accountable for not putting something in their body they don't want to.

Mate that's a bonkers mindset

Yes, remember the one that told people they were thick if they didn't choose their side of the argument. It is the same now, from the same sorts of people regarding the vaccine. Trying to bully and force people to take it will have the reverse effect.

Then again, the actual amount of people at the game with masks today compared to those on here saying they would wear one was miles off, so I suppose this forum isn't really that representative of what most people think.

There is. One instruction is ‘don’t put this in your body’, the other is ‘you must put this in your body’. I’ve said above I can see the huge problems if we have a large group of players out due to infection. And we end up in Rotherham’s situation.

The reality is some people have died from the vaccine , small risk or not they have died .

You force somebody to have it against their will and they die ..then what do we call that ?
