And to echo what others have said I’m sick to the back teeth of the song due to it being played to death.

The players stood on the stage at the awards night while it played out just looked awkward and borderline embarrassed.

The intro and one chorus pre-game like it used to be is perfect. Leave it there.

I’d argue with the more ‘day trippers’ comment.

We have 24k STHs and there will be more than 1K less matchday tickets each game due to an increased away allocation and amendments to the stadium.

And all matchday purchasers will need a membership.

There will be less day trippers than ever.
If by ever you mean the very small period the grounds been selling out in the last 21 years then yes there will be less there than ever.

The only thing that bugs me now about it is why we’ve suddenly started playing the second verse. Just leave it at the first one then the big roar. All that happens now is half the ground sings, half the ground cheers and it just drabs out to silence.

I was responding to a comment that said we’d have more day trippers than last season. By what possible logic will that be the case given there are less matchday tickets and a membership scheme?

Did it eye
Was really surprised, and disappointed, they played it today. Ground no more than 1/3rd full it was only ever going to be half arsed, borderline embarrassing. Definitely ridiculous playing it at full time.

The club need to be very mindful of sanitising the atmosphere and everything becoming very generic. Its going to be bad enough with more day trippers attending without the creation of an atmosphere in a 'paint by numbers' way, but I guess its in keeping with so many other PL teams. Hopefully the club prove me wrong, but somehow I fear the worst....

Never liked it as a football song. Was probably best left in 2023 when it had its moment

I hope the new production team will be using the pre-season friendlies to gauge what works and doesn’t work in the stadium.

For my money, I’d limit WLADITT to pre kick-off and truly special post match celebrations where it is instigated by the crowd and players and not manufactured. I’d also make sure no one ever played anything after a goal goes in which is the most tinpot Reebok Stadium nonsense of all time.

The rest of the playlist needs fleshing out, but there are some staples - the specials, the orchestral version of the Sky Blue Song, the criminally underplayed Go For It City.

In fairness, the crowd also needs to sort its shit out chant-wise and stop jumping on every TikTok trend - we are better than that. The production folks should be able to rely on the crowd to create anc sustain the atmosphere, and it’s only when this doesn’t happen that they have to reach for ever more tenuous stuff, or just fallback on endless replays of WLADITT.

If anyone from the club does look in on this forum, please take heed of this reaction and pass it on to the new production team.

We're Losing All Delight In The Tune

I've always liked the song, even before the club started using it, but I agree they are overdoing it right now. Once before kick off is enough.

There are enough other Coventry related songs to use at the end of the game such as by the Specials or Selecter, or even play King's Love and Pride if they have to.

Are we really complaining about this - a song that is a big part of our identity that other clubs would die for. Christ. Had me in tears at Wembley. Some people.
All the more reason to preserve it then surely?

I cried my eyes out at Wembley when we sang it, now I (and presumably many others looking through this thread) are starting to hate it because of the constant playing of it at every turn.

I'm surprised people are that bothered it's played twice a game.

For me it's having the fucking lyrics on the screen. people above saying things like manufactured and part of our identity. Is there anything more manufactured than showing everyone what to sing? And it's part of our identity but we still have to print the lyrics.

We'd rip the piss out of any team we went to and they did that.

It's for inclusivity of deaf & hard of hearing fans.
At least that's what I was told when I questioned it.

Fair enough, hadn't occurred to me.

Though we had someone signing on the screen once and never repeated so they can't be being that inclusive if they have a paid resource but don't use it.

Though I have 0 idea about that stuff so could be well wrong.

A big part of identity? It's only been involved a few years
But it has become part of the identity over the last few years. I read plenty of comments from opposition fans saying they were looking forward to hearing it when they come to the CBS.

Good for them

I think we should just pick a dirge of a song from a 1950s Hollywood musical that’ll show em.
I guess fans of other clubs who say they wish they’d had it and are really impressed are less embarrassed by it than the super fans on SBT.
Oh well never mind.

Thats just a load of nonsense written there isnt it

This it's our identity thing is mad too, a 15yo song thats only started to be sung by our fans in the last 3-4 years while were currently being rebranded into cov cov cov motor city blues while the actual identity i grew up with being the sky blues seems to be missing in action. Strange attitudes

and not putting the words up on the scoreboard for those who don't know them causes a few 'awks' moments on occasions, especially when two verses get trotted out when most have stopped singing

We definitely overuse WLADITT, it’s great before matches. I’d like to see us use The Specials more, ‘Enjoy Yourself’ after a win and ‘A Message to You Rudy’ seems like two obvious choices.

I would love to see Go for it City return more regularly as a chant as well, it's brilliant

The fundamental rule of matchday production should be that less is more.

Atmosphere at a match comes from the crowd. The audio/visuals can guide and support but they’re not the main attraction.

The reason why WLADITT was great is it brought everyone together to belt out the chorus before kick off. Nothing really to do with the song itself.

95% of the time it should only be played once, and it should be the intro into the first chorus, fade out crowd sings, then the roar/applause, then kick off.

The old matchday team did lose their way last season trying to do too many bells and whistles IMO.
