Although i want the team to stay up and still think we have a chance although very slim i do not think it will be the disaster that most people think it will be if we go down. We have held our own with most of the teams in the championship (losing my a single goal most times than not just proves we really struggle up front) with the team we have now so why cant we be dominant in League 1? I'm not saying it will be easy but players like McSheffrey, Baker, Platt i think will thrive against weaker opposition and i think winning more games than losing for once might have a real positive effect. Also gives our younger players (who i think are decent enough atm but just need a bit more experience) the chance to continue their development plus we might find a few gems in that division

I would have to be crazy to think we will be run away leaders but i would be massively disappointed if we werent at least challenging for the playoffs throughout the season. We all know that the championship is a very good league but i think the gap between the championship and league 1 is a lot bigger than the gap between the championship and the premier league other than the big 4 or 5

Norwich, Swansea, Southampton etc have allproved what a "winning team" can go on to do....
we arent a winning team, and we need toget into that habit
Is it really that big a gap? Norwich get promoted, then get promoted. Southampton get promoted and the are top of the league. Other teams like Leeds last season, Brighton this season get promoted and then a knocking on the play offs. It's not like league one teams come up and then struggle near the bottom of he championship.....
You are forgetting Pompey and possibly Nottingham Forest, both won more cup-finals than us, been in more cup-finals than us and won the League title and larger support
When we got relegated from the premiership we all thought we we would have 1 season in the championship , have a good time , visit new grounds , score plenty of goals before returning to the premiership the following season !
And we are still there ( just about ) . So do not expect us to come straight back cos you will be disappointed
Yeah but those teams werent winning when they were relegated to League 1 in the first place, they needed a confidence boost just like we would from playing lower level teams no disrespect to the team in league 1
Bit like us then Blinx.
Many said the same thing's years ago when we got relegated, think a few may in for a big reality check if we go down, would love to be proven wrong but really can see us having a tough old time down there, some are even saying to give thorn more time, even after this season.
We need a big freshen up next year in my opinion, the ownership of the club will do whatever it does but the playing side needs a big kick up it's arse, and someone to install a new mentality into what ever players we have left, because we could still have a negative atmosphere around the place if not careful.
The gap between the championship and leauge 1 is not that big. Look at what Hull, Swansea, Norwich and what Southampton are doing.
Them teams all had one thing, confidence from the season before. Brighton had it at the start of the season aswell.
But when we go down we need to build are squad to be fit for the championship. :blue:

There's got to be a reason why three 'championship' teams (Chalton and the 2 Sheffield teams) are the top three

Looking at the promotion hopefuls in League 1 then Charlton, Sheff. Utd and Sheff. Wed all look like good bets.
That would leave league 1 looking bereft of any 'big' clubs for the first time in many a year accept one - Coventry City!
Yes we look like being the biggest team in there next season. That should warm the heart a little as we will have a fantastic stadium and no matter what happens should be able to run from the front among that opposition?
It may be our time to do a Norwich and come up in successive seasons?
Think regardless of who owns us a good managerial pick will be a key element.
I'm preparing for it now and thinking ahead. I believe SISU are already doing so. Season tickets same price, lots of early bird incentives. Running cost will be lowered as far as player contracts are concerned. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards before moving forwards.
Keeping the likes of Bigi and all our young lads will be crucial and very likely. Think they will 'come of age' in league 1 and really grow into a terrific unit.
It may be the most exciting times we have had in years...just around the corner!
It almost make me want to say - lets hurry up and go down!
for McSheff, Baker,Platt etc, substitute Chippo, Lee Hughes, Lee Carsley, Mo Konjic etc etc and its exactly what we said when coming down fro the prem !
If the sheff clubs and Charlton go up, without even thinking , I would have Huddersfield and Swindon ahead of us
MK Dons will be no pushovers, and I am sure Notts County will be there or there abouts
Add in Pompy and Doncaster and we are looking at at least 7 clubs competing up the top, lets not think we will be run away leaders !
