The newly formed board probably have no idea about the cause nor who gets what from it. Even if they did make a generous offer, who would get it and how would it be spent? What good PR would they have received? Unless it was mega money and because SISU are unpopular people would still have complained.
Why should we pay for former players anyhow? Even in times of sensible pay, footballers still got paid more than the average man on the streets who was paying their wages. They were blessed with a talent that we would all love to have possessed. I certainly know that a choice between being out their playing and standing on the touchline watching is not even close, so they should be grateful for what they had. I don't think the board or the fans owe them any hand-outs. If people want to give then fine it's their cash but I see them as no more deserving than all the scroungers on the welfare state that I'm already contributing towards with my taxes.
