Nick Masons birthday today so Planet Rock asked on there Facebook page " what's your favourite Pink Floyd song ? "
That is hard as there's so many but I put down my 2 favourite tracks are See Emily Play and One Of These Days. But tomorrow I'd pick a couple of different songs !

I love loads of them, but two that spring to mind are "Mother" from 'The Wall' and "Learning to Fly" from 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason'. Oh, and a track that gets the crowd going at a PF concert, "Run".

Love "The Gunner's Dream" from the Final Cut which is my favourite PF album although some see it as a Roger Waters solo album

One of my favourite albums as well ovduk78, but like you, I also consider it a Roger Waters album. I think he dedicated it to his dad if I recall from a previous interview.

On Planet Rock recently they played a track by Alice In Chains called No Excuses. I thought it was Nirvana at first, but it is a great song from way back by them. It's on YouTube and worth checking out.

On the cover it was dedicated to the memory of his dad. There was no recognition of Rick Wright either & he may have been sacked from the band as he thought it was too personal to Roger Waters. I think Waters had written The Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking before The Wall & the rest of the band refused to be on it as that was so personal concerning Waters' marriage break up, there are even the same music chords in places on both The Wall & Pros and Cons

Nobody has ever heard of anything I listen to. Tonight it’s DFTram at Ozora, the Gentle People, Mixmaster Morris, Balearic Ultras and then Tom Middleton to fall asleep to.

Yes. He seems a more stable character, as in doesn’t talk shite (yet) Decent enough songs for a new band.

Made a really naff 70s playlist for the drive over to and from St. Andrews. Don’t judge me but some songs are terrible but most have that nostalgia feel and sound better now than they did back then. Son (who is 17) particularly likes Sweets ‘fox on the run’ or as he has been singing every night since the 5th round draw...’Foxes on the Run’

Prog rock is perhaps the most underrated genre of all, when done right. Amorphous Androgynous changed the entire way I listen to music.

saw them live at a Festival, never heard of them prior to that, (didn't know it was the Future sound of London lot), absolutely mind blowing. Been a fan ever since.

didn't realise they were still active, (not as big a fan as I thought!). I know they don't play live often but be good if they promoted it with a few dates, really good live band.

Last weekend I went to Butlins For a rock weekend - what a blast £90 for the weekend some better known bands like Hawkwind but some great stuff from others Like Stray who have been active since the 70s - Crazy world of Arthur Brown were excellent he is 77 changed his costume every song - Fire was epic !!!
the venues were excellent - random seating , very few queues at the bar and not stupid pricing - staff were excellent and bands were always on time - some of the bands were with people from others so Priesthood played a Judas Priest set as the drummer Les Binks was ex Priest with a new singer who was excellent and hit all the high notes - There was a Saxon set with an ex Saxon fella all the hits - Bernie Marsden did a load of white snake stuff - all in all much fun was had and will be going again !
Our chalet was clean and basic - you could wander from venue to venue to catch different bands - only downside was plastic glasses !
Hawkwind were excellent with only a 4 piece and plenty of electronics

They're my number one for sure. They used to be FSOL as you know, and one of them came down with a mystery illness in the late 90s, and thought he was dying. Nobody could fix him up and in the end he kind of gave in, and went to Goa to basically go nuts losing his mind and go out with a bang. Then a 'shamen' or whatever they're called realised he was actually getting mercury poisoning from a filling. He took all kinds of herbal-type remedies, got cured and in the process had some kind of 'spiritual awakening' and thats why the music ever since has been psychedelic, prog & electronic fused together. I have always been electronic/ dance/ ambient (cliched descriptions but don't know what else to call it) and the thought of listening to psychedelic guitars was of zero interest to me. So when I bought their album The Isness, I couldn't get my head around it but was fascinated, it kept drawing me back as I knew there was something I wasn't quite getting, I listened to it for ages then one day it just clicked, and I was entranced. It completely changed the way I listen to & appreciate music.

Noel Gallagher screwed them over royally, but Paul Weller still works with them I think. They are nothing if not eccentric (Gaz Cobain has one of the most entertaining facebook accounts I've seen) & they live in their own world & are notorious for huge delays to releases, however their new album comes out shortly, "we convince ourselves we are immortal" I think its called, and like the other obsessed fans I am excited in a big way to hear it.
