I've never heard of most of the players we sign.

As long as he is better than Cobi Jones....we had all heard of him....World Cup Star signs!

I bet Pressley is spitting teeth.
We're going nowhere.

Peter Ndlovu, Ian Wallace, Micky Gynn, Dean Emmerson, Gary Gillespie or Phil Babb

Compare to Kevin Drinkell, Freddie Eastwood, Julien Joachim, Robert Jarni, or that midfielder we Signed from Norwich because he jumped ship and I believe he has drifted out the league, annoyed his name escapes me but then again doesn't deserve to be mentioned.

In fairness, not many of us had heard of Nuddy, Gynn, or Emerson before they signed. Even GG and Babb probably went on to be bigger names after they left us.

I don't mind if I haven't heard of our new signings, especially at this level. Some of our less able players were big names before they got here, but then rapidly started to head the other way (usually whilst on our payroll). Tim Sherwood, Keith O'Neill, for example - I'm sure there are more. ;)

Well the obvious difference there is signing young players to develop against big names entering the twilight of their career looking for one last pay day.

Why? He would have been involved in signing him. Why are we going nowhere because we have signed a player? I assume you are familiar with him to pass that judgement?

He's 18, he's 5'6", he's played 11 senior games and scored 1 goal. I hope my gut feeling is wrong.

Terry Gibson 5' 4" 98 games 43 goals and David Speedie 5' 7" 122 games 31 goals, those are their Cov stats.
Prior to coming to Cov Gibson had scored about 4 goals in 18 games.

Can we at least give these players the chance to disappoint us before moaning about how disappointing they are?

It's the same people who moan about everything and make a point of saying they don't care every other day.

Absolutely mate, agreed.

But inevitably the only 'big names' we're going to sign will be a bit like this won't they? Done well elsewhere (which is why we've heard of them), now on the slippery slope downhill (which is why we can afford them). :)
