We’ve had an easy start to the season. We all knew that before it had started. The run is much harder post Wrexham.

I suspect we will drop into our natural position of 5th / 6th before January.

I bet you also predicted we'd get beat at Millwall. 🤣

Yeah but it's a fair argument isn't it, we fan's can be overconfident,me we should be able to see these off but the players while having faith must not view oppo teams that way and I'm sure Frank will deliver that message?

Frank will keep the players grounded, but surely the fans, after the years that we've had are allowed to enjoy the moment aren't we. 🤔

Still early in the season but the stats show we are where we deserve to be , factor in injuries (Rudoni , Dovin EMC ) and the fact we can rest our top scorer and still bag a couple away from home, and I think we all can agree we can go up a gear in games and have still to be tested I dont see a false position at all
Spot on, if we were nicking games 1-0 then yeah but We’re battering teams, Portsmouth only scored because we switched off in the 96th minute, and as for some saying “ we’ve had easy games “ milwall are 3rd, hull 7th QPR 8th and Leicester 9th, we’ve made them look easy,

Well we were but we just need to vary, and if a Tuesday comes along keep it absolutely locked down at the back.

Can only beat what's put in front of you and we keep doing that when no one else does

I think this is it really. Yes, we've probably had a more favourable run than most but no games are easy in this league and anyone can beat anyone.

The manner in which we're putting teams away makes me think we should be able to compete against the better sides in the league quite comfortably.

This next block of 10 will be a real litmus test to prove that though so we'll soon find out. I feel that even if we got around 15/16 points from these next 10 I still think we'd just about keep our spot in the top 2.

You can only beat what's in front of you. We've been doing it very well. Our GD is the same as the clubs in 2nd to 8th combined.

Of course our games will get a little harder in both November and December. But I've not seen another side anywhere near as good as ours. We beat Millwall 0-4 at their place then in their next game they beat WBA 3-0. Millwall are in 3rd. If Millwall had beat us they would be in 1st.

Are these good sides you say including Sheffield United, Ipswich or Southampton? Would have preferred to have played them already.

We’ve definitely ‘played’ teams. A quick glance at the table tells us this.

One thing I have wondered about though is timings and whether we’ve been a tad lucky as to when we’ve played them. Most obviously Millwall, who I think were missing most of their best players. Could also make the same argument for Pompey and Blackburn.
And What the hell happened to QPR when we played them?!

Anyway, I don’t know if I believe this either…and we’ve been without our best player for what seems likes ages.

Maybe (he says in a whisper) we’re just very very good.
We're just v good. Millwall form reads; WDLWWW - that one loss was against us. QPR were unbeaten for several games after we battered them.

Under lampard we have picked up the most points in almost an entire league seasons worth of games .. weve nothing to fear at all , we are the best team in the league over a long period

Right you post this a lot but it removes any promoted or relegated teams so doesn’t tell us much other than we’re maybe 4th best maybe higher?

Well the 3 promoted ones are irrelevant as they've gone and the 3 relegated ones you just have to look for yourself I suppose, they look way off what was expected.

Some of the negative comments on here are disgraceful. Defeatist.
Some of you need to change attitude.
We are all part of this, we all need to believe it might make the difference.
Listen to Doug King.

Look let us give our team the mighty Sky Blues 100% credit for the amazing start we have had, scoring goals in abundance, plenty to be able to cheer about. We can only beat whats in front of us and so far its exceeding all of our expectations so lets all enjoy it and be in unison for once in praising all our players and staff plus Doug for overseeing something not a lot of people seen coming

I think it makes no difference what we say/think on here.
The last time we got promoted nobody was allowed in stadia.

They may be "easier" but I haven't seen many teams putting 5 past Derby away, 7 past QPR, 4 past Millwall and 3 past blues.
None of those teams are “easy”. As poor as Blues were against us, their underlying data has them as one of the best teams in the division.

Millwall are 3rd and QPR 8th, joint 5th but their goal difference holds them back. They’ve conceded 16 goals in 11 games, take our 7-1 battering out, their GD would be +5. They’re a good side.

We’re in a v good place and we’ve got a great head start on the other contenders. The underlying data on Millwall, Boro and Stoke isn’t that favourable compared to us. To clarify, at the current run rate, they won’t be able to keep up.

I'm sure I saw some data when the fixtures were released that showed we had the joint 'easiest' set of opening fixtures. Matches aren't played on paper so it's largely irrelevant.

Who would have thought that all 3 parachute clubs would have started so poorly? Ipswich have lost a few players but it looked like they assembled a championship super team. Southampton still have some good players at this level and Leicester also still have a good squad for this level. But they've all underperformed.

On paper, Charlton is the 'easiest' fixture since they got promoted via the play-offs and thus finished lower than anyone else in the pyramid. But fans are guilty of not looking at other details, such as the manager of a club. Charlton have Nathan Jones who had Luton up in the play-off places before he left.

Southampton on the other-hand have Will Still who is young and has never managed in England let alone the Championship. So maybe their start isn't so shocking.

Back to Cov, after such an excellent start, we only need to be average for the rest of the season to make the play-offs. 1.5 points per game should see us finish on 77/78 points. It's in our hands and ours to lose.

Sheffield Wednesday will obviously struggle hugely this season but Middlesbrough squeezed past them last night, we won 5-0 with room for more. They went to Portsmouth and lost, we went down there, played a rotated team in a new formation, and controlled the game.

There are no easy opponents in this division, the difference is we have looked a cut above most opponents barring Lesta away.
