I’m happy to be asked the same question of ccfc and/or Sisu. But why trust wasps. I don’t get it?

Pedant alert: I think it's Richardson at Wasps - wasn't Robinson our sugar daddy?

Regardless, even if there was an endless supply of money (which there clearly isn't, hence the bond issue), rugby operates a salary cap so it wouldn't make it to the playing side.

Another twitter numpty with not a clue about either finance or rugby, imho.

If we are out of Coventry for 5 Years (that's 5 more years) what will the state of the club be? What will our attendances be? Will Sisu will continue to stop us from going under if Robins can't sell 2 or 3 players a season?
The statement about a new stadium is so tenuous. Sisu 'are having talks about entering into a partnership'. If we are depending on a new stadium on that side of the city, is it really going to take 5 years? The project name for the Ricoh was Arena 2000. It wasn't completed until 2005 and that was with the goodwill of all concerned.
I am sure Sisu's real target is the Ricoh still. All of the optimistic talk that Wasps are on their last legs is just guesswork. Maybe they will go bust in 6 months. Maybe they won't go bust at all. Nobody on here really knows. Maybe they will get a financial white knight that will save them and completely isolate us. Depending on Wasps demise to save us seems a very risky business.
Planning and building a new stadium while playing at the Ricoh was the ideal. Now, who knows where we will end up.

I agree with all of this.

What I think is clear is that SISU has always been motivated to buy the Ricoh on the cheap. Not being judgmental on that; they are a venture capital company seeking a return for their investors.

They tried various tactics first time around to get the Ricoh on the cheap - nearly succeeded and then out of the blue the Council found a tenant.

Looks to me as if Sisu are doing what they have done before; a barely hidden strategy to distress Wasps and get the Ricoh on the cheap. It's a high stakes game as ISB points out. SISU will see this as justified both in terms of return on investment (buying a cheap asset if Wasps collapse) and also in securing the long term future of the club by owning the asset/income streams.

It's the only thing that really makes sense in terms of not being in Coventry next season.

As others have pointed out there is blame on all sides on this - SISU, Wasps, CCC - all parties have been motivated by their own audiences and concerns vs. working together.

Like others I'm very disappointed to be out of Cov for another season (or maybe more) but I hope for a resolution. If not as we did last season, let's stand together at St. Andrews, support our famous team and be proud as we defy the odds again as a club without a home.

Just to summarise then, Wasps say...

We did not require the football club or its owners to sign any indemnity around legal action over the Ricoh Arena

CCFC say...

...the clauses introduced by Wasps, for themselves and for a third-party, then added conditions that would unreasonably restrict the Club and SISU’s basic legal rights and would commit the Club and SISU to underwrite Wasps’ and that third-party’s costs and all future damages.

Personally, I sense there's a play on words going on here in regard to Wasps' definition of indemnity, and I find it hard to believe that the club wouldn't play at the Ricoh if there's an offer on the table broadly equivalent to the deal we have at St Andrews with no other conditions attached.

However, the alternate possibility is that SISU are lying, and there really is no indemnity clause or added conditions. The point of the dishonesty here, if it exists, is presumably to keep the fans onside regarding staying in Birmingham.

There's a solution here - the side telling the truth should publicly demand the removal of the NDA, so the terms of any potential deal are clear to everyone.

The side that doesn't want the NDA removing, are the side that are lying.

Also, something that made me smile wryly (my piss having long since boiled away to steam), Wasps, formerly London Wasps, had the brass bollocks to say this...

We, like everyone else, believe the football club should be playing its home games in the city that bears its name

I read this line from our statement as that wasps wanted the NDA as until yesterday that was their reason for not saying anything

"Unfortunately we are unable to disclose full details due to the requirement to sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to negotiations taking place."

You could well be right but if I was running CCFC's PR and that was the case, I'd be making it a lot more public that we want to drop the NDA and allow the facts of the proposed deal speak for themselves.

SISU were often quick to use the NDA argument when people wanted more info on the deals that saw them buy the club.
CCC hide behind NDAs on the sale of ACL and other parts of their dealings with Wasps.

I honestly don't recall any NDAs for the club purchase - only having to give up our shares to allow it to go through.

Regardless, I don't see that it changes things - somewhere here isn't telling the whole truth, quite possibly both sides. Either side can ask for the NDA to be dropped - if both sides agree then it ceases to take effect.

The smart play for the side telling the truth (if there is one), would be to demand that the NDA is dropped.

Interesting chat had today:
-CCFC offered deals to Wasps. "VERY good deals for Wasps"
-Wasps kept moving goalposts each time.
-This scenario known about for a little while.
-Club knew wasps would come back with statements such as that released last night.
- Warwick statement had disturbed them - but released after numerous offers from CCFC to Wasps.
BEST TIL LAST....
- Wasps are lying (statement last night) and need to be careful what they say!!!

Very interesting....

Obviously we have our sky blue glasses on but again, seems wasps are lying and maybe getting away with it again.

Cant see how Wasp can survive unless CCC buy bonds or give them handouts.

No rugby for the last 4 months,
Drop in TV revenue,
No hotel casino conference revenue for the foreseeable future,
Losing at the moment £10m a year,
No crowds allowed when season restarts,
RFU in financial trouble,
No Christmas funfair and works parties,
No concerts,
No CCFC rent and F and B revenue on the horizon,
No stadium sponsorship deal,
No new training facility,
Bonds in freefall,
Please feel free to add more!

Its just ridiculous and totally unsustainable for them to carry on as a business. Surely the owners must be thinking of throwing in the towel sooner rather than later

in recent times when the club has put out statements with specifics in they’ve waited for the expected reply and been ready to respond. Will be interesting to see what the next move is here.

It’s Orwellian.

Wasps have always played in Coventry and the RICOH was purpose built for them and the seats painted black and yellow.

On the official

Following the statement by Wasps late on Friday night, Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy has sought to respond to incorrect claims made by the Ricoh Arena landlords, and to clarify the situation for fans and in the interests of transparency and honesty regarding the situation.
Boddy said:
“For Wasps to say that Coventry City 'pulled out' of talks is absolutely disingenuous.

“CCFC had a deadline from the EFL of Monday 20th July at 5pm to inform them where we would be playing our home games for the 20-21 season. This date had been known to Wasps for some weeks. I personally twice told Stephen Vaughan (Wasps CEO) the date and all parties engaged in the process had been sent written confirmation of this deadline from the EFL some weeks ago.
“The principle and concept of an indemnity against Wasps and a third party was absolutely a requirement, and this indemnity would have put the Football Club at substantial risk and jeopardise its very future.
“We would be happy to produce correspondence to support all of our claims but unfortunately we are bound by the NDA, which we signed at the start of talks at the insistence of Wasps.
“Because progress was being made the EFL extended the deadline twice during this week to Friday; and on that expiry we were instructed by them to confirm where we would play. All parties in the process were well aware of these extensions.
“We were faced with exactly the same problem last season, and were effectively 'timed out' by them again.”
Boddy added:
“Throughout my three-and-a-half-year career at the club, Wasps have consistently and flagrantly ignored critical deadlines set for us by the EFL and treated them and those deadlines with disrespect. In fact, they only instructed solicitors to act for them on Monday morning when they were well aware of the Monday 5pm deadline.
“It happened regularly when we agreed the one-year extension to our last license for the 2018-19 season. The EFL have been nothing but supportive during the whole period of time I have been at the Club.”
