The average cost of an Indian wedding might be 50k. How much of that do you think the venue picks up?

Just to be clear I didn't say football generally is on the wane ..... didn't the EFL recently release a report a report saying quite the reverse...... The comment was on the specific current circumstances of Ccfc. Where despite moderate success, we are still in the mix crowds have declined if anything. Rugby in the city of Coventry has seen a resurgence of interest. If that continues then it will affect Ccfc in many areas including attendances, finances, recruitment etc that to me is a long term concern

I must have misinterpreted, apologies. PL football will appeal more than Premiership rugby, but League 2 football will not. League 1 will struggle as well unless we are at the top end. Get into the Championship and we may see some parity.

There is no reason for optimism around CCFC, certainly not in the longer term. People in this city care more about the experience and if you're offered free flags for the kids and a pint you can drink at your seat that will have some appeal in itself. The football club offers 2 stands and extortionate prices for a mediocre product. Most 'customers' won't go for it.

I have ideas, couldn't do it all on my own. I have always been of the thinking, protests should be aimed at all parties. People don't like that, they just want to go after sisu. That is the difficulty, wasps have been accepted as they're not sisu. CCFC fans would need persuading that wasps are bad says it all.

Fair enough. I can see reasoning in that. There is a whole thread going on with plenty demanding protest, get them to back those demands by backing your ideas. Would suggest best done by pm not in open forum until the group is ready to launch.

The problems are not due to one side. All have contributed but Sisu are root cause of many of Ccfc problems. Easy target but not the only target

Going to depend on how they construct the offer isn't it. Whether they can offer rooms to stay, where they pitch the catering etc. But the question should perhaps be what net profit would they make compared to the net profit on a Ccfc match

But let's not dwell on an example. They would have replace turnover but more importantly profit. There are options that could cushion the loss of Ccfc income/profit. It isn't as simple as a total loss

How much does the consent fee come to all together. It was expressed as .20 of a cent (presumably American cents). Does Wasps Finance pay it?

I think they mean 0.2% of the face value of those that voted for the amendments

We have a solitary Wasps fan where I work but he is like a 1 man PR machine regurgitating everything that comes out from Wasps.

Today he was strangely silent, normally can't wait to start up when we've lost.

Seems he's not in a good mood as "we're letting all our best players go as we haven't got a pot to piss in".

The only other piece of news he wanted to share today was apparently Wasps have been busted for going over the salary cap.

He's not a happy chap today :woot:

Could be helpful but If it's going to cave in for them Dai Young signing a new contract rather being a Shoe in for the Welsh Job when Gatland leaves would have been a decent sign of an Implosion.

No because if I did he would be better informed on both the salary cap and players leaving.
Both not big stories in rugby I'm afraid. Sorry CD

Interesting, because the coverage I've seen suggests that Cipriani choosing not to commit to Wasps is a bit of a story in rugby circles.

The salary cap thing just shows to me that (like the Bonds) Wasps aren't entirely capable of keeping their administration straight. Not entirely reassuring for investors when that happens, imho.

Now I think about it, it's almost as though someone's trying to spin away any negatives about the franchise here. Surely not

£40K audit error on £7M+ 2 luxury players and a £20K fine is hardly a worry if you want the facts.
I would say Cipriani wants to go to France for a final placement huge pay rise now that his England career is over.
All normal when your in the know.

Italia is turning into Tim Fisher. Sure if there was a £40K audit error in the CCFC accounts Fisher would be telling us its hardly a worry.

Ha Ha. If there is creative accounting then Tim Fisher would win.
He can move players and golden shares from account to account without any FL knowledge. (or reprimand)

I wouldn't want you doing my accounts. A 40k audit error leading to a 20k penalty would be considered very poor practice by any business that I know or have worked in, especially when it's combined with the bond 'oversight'.

Put it this way, I work in a business that turns over an awful lot more than Wasps and we reconcile to the penny every month-end reporting period. It sounds hard, but it isn't too difficult if you've got the proper governance and structures in place. As a result it's unlikely that we'd suddenly find ourselves £40k out on audit. Sorry if it hurts that your paymasters are a bit incompetent, but a business that relies on cash handouts from an owner and bond financing to keep it's head above water isn't really going to welcome a fine of £20,000. Maybe you're not quite as in the know as you think...

And who knows what Cipriani wants, but clearly one of Wasps better players isn't sticking around. Perhaps he preferred it when they were in London.

If you want the details.

'This is not a breach of the regulations' say Premiership bosses
Wasps 'overrun' on salary spend

Danny Cipriani set to be offered £50,000 per game in Japan | Daily Mail Online

Thanks, I'm aware of the details. It might not be a 'breach' of the regulations, but it's not trivial either if it costs you £20k. It's also a bit embarassing if only a year or two ago your owner was quoted as saying something like...

"We are strong supporters of the salary cap and believe that it is vital to the Aviva Premiership to be the most competitive league in world rugby and at the same time protecting the long-term financial sustainability of clubs."

Wasps 'not part of Premiership salary cap settlement', insists owner Derek Richardson | Daily Mail Online

A bit awkward then, if you can't actually manage to stay within it!

And again, a player that Wasps would seemingly like to have kept, is choosing to leave.

Anyway, that's twice I've gone to the Daily Mail in one day... for some reason I'm getting the uncontrollable urge to shout at a 'foreigner'. I'd better go lie down for a bit.

It's not an oversight, the breach of the salary cap like the bond thing as a deliberate act for a specific purpose.

Had a ticket offer for these arseholes just come through on Facebook so reported it as inappropriate they wanted £14 for a ticket that’s a big increase from nothing.

Good to see lots giving them stick on there calling them franchise wankers even a villa fan was having a go

I know the majority of folk here aren't interested in more details, but there are a couple of things that are relevant to these issues.

Cipriani is leaving which is a damn shame, but he is being replaced by Lima Sopoaga who is rated as one of the best 10s in the world and to date has been a regular for the All Blacks. So whilst it is likely to have an impact on team cohesion, it isn't likely to be a reflection of anything negative regading finances.

The salary cap thing was very disappointing, but not as big a deal as it has been painted. There is an allowance in the Salary Cap which the club gets when a player is away on England duty. If said player is injured and therefore unable to be part of the England camp that allowance is not given. With Hughes, Haskell and Daly all having been injured for some time that would account for the discrepancy. This wouldn't be an issue, apart from the fact that you have to agree what people will be getting paid at the begining of the year, and you find out what the size of the allowance you get from the RFU is as it happens. If it shows anything, it is how close Wasps are skirting to the limit of the cap.

At least he was quite informative, which is something you haven't quite achieved yet.
Don't agree with the assessment of Lima Sopaogo, he isn't as highly rated as made out, and is coming here for a quick buck, as he is currently back up to Beauden Barrett for the All Blacks. If he was such a star player for the All Blacks, why is he leaving to come here?

We can't afford the Ricoh. We can't afford our own ground. So we are stuck here for the time being.
The art is to get a long term deal with built in safeguards and escalation of incomes as we go up the leagues.
Wasps will have ups and downs and will want CCFC to be here to share the risk. CCFC needs to factor this into any deal.
Can't see it happening with Sisu though as no one trusts them.
At the moment we just need to tread water and take short term deals until they go.

Yeah, don't they have a rule that they can only pick players that play in New Zealand?
