What’s this about Jordan Shipley playing with a rollie stuck up his bum?

Don’t see how taking snus would affect your stamina though.

It shouldn't impact his fitness. People just think tobacco = smoking.

It's amazing how clearly people's prejudices shine through on here. If people read beyond the 1st sentence they might see that I was actually critical of Shipley and his performances last season! The one thing he has always had though is a sweet left foot, which I would have thought even you, Grendel and others wouldn't dispute, but no you obviously don't think he's even got that. Such balanced views, but if you're right and he hasn't even got that why on earth would MR stick with him?

But you said one of the best in the league which is obviously utter nonsense tho, can hit a ball well as he has shown in the past but one of the best in the championship is rubbish

Tbf I think it’s because you said in the Championship, in the squad would be more realistic

Read what you said.

Not being funny, I have a sweet left foot if it doesn't involve any other aspect of being a footballer. It means nothing if you are fucked after 10 minutes of the game.

We have a new first team coach if fitness was an issue before I doubt it will in the future.

We've had designated fitness coaches & sports scientists for years, not sure a first team coach will dramatically change things in that department.

There hasn't been a huge number of trials done on the effect of snus on athletes but virtually all sports scientists and medical professionals think it's detrimental
Here's an excerpt from one study
I know one or two goalkeepers who were taking it
Unsurprisingly they were prone to loss of concentration
What does nicotine do to the body?
The most active substance in snus is undoubtedly nicotine, and in the absence of specific research on Swedish snus, we have to look to the much more comprehensive research available for nicotine in general here.

The effect of nicotine on the body is primarily exerted on the autonomous nervous system. The body's signalling system is thus affected, leading to reduced blood flow to the muscles, reduced removal of waste products from the muscles and reduced energy supply. The cross-sectional surface of the muscle decreases in size, which is thought to reduce strength during heavy lifting. You start feeling cold more easily, which can be a disadvantage when doing certain sports in a northern part of the world.

The nicotine also leads to impaired nerve communication in the muscles, i.e. in the signalling between nerve ends and muscle fibres, which can worsen coordination and the ability to activate the right amount of strength in the muscle when needed.

I had heard that LOB and MM were serial takers when they were here, can’t imagine managers particularly care though

Most managers are pretty much against their players taking snus but as it's not illegal it's difficult to make it a disciplinary issue
Non-selection of certain players will give fans a clue
As wiill offloading decent players who have a very bad addiction to it

I sat here like a plank trying to work out who MM was then Mcindoe sprung into my head.... so with that in mind I need to defend Liam O'Brien, he was probably sold the snus by Mcindoe at a ridiculous price and was actually stuffing the turf from MMs studs onto his gums!!

We seem to have a problem with anyone with the initials MM, I seem to recall a certain chairman liked the odd drink or 6, was certainly worse for wear when he blessed the fans with his presence pre match at Middlesboro
