Vodafone & Hummel (2 Viewers)

I've heard both of these things said in the last couple of weeks. The Hummel one I'm a bit dubious on but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Vodafone one is true. I get the impression they're more than happy with the shirt sponsorship which was a pretty big deal in comparison to most others around in the Premiership. It could've been so much bigger though with the naming rights too.
So with ccfc presence hypothetically swinging such a big deal in their favour would the club actually get their fair %? I reckon the answer would be...no.

I appreciate it’s silly season with all of the rumours however have seen online and various rumours that Vodafone were lined up for the Ricoh naming rights, but have pulled out as they want CCFC as part of the deal.
In addition, was told that Hummel are not best pleased either with the move to Birmingham. The kit deal was a green way before the move to Birmingham was agreed and as part of the ongoing talks to stay at the Ricoh, the club shop was going to be bought back to the ground.
Now with the move to Birmingham, passing trade on match days isn’t going to happen, unless you count a small stall that was at St Andrews yesterday with merchandise.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, I haven’t had time to scroll through the forum today.

I doubt it, Wasps own and occupy the retail unit. How would the club shop have moved back in there?

Great post. Yesterday I spent at least £30 in around around digbeth and then £15 in the ground. All money I would have spent in casino / Ricoh..
Saw plenty of City in town pre match and there were a lot fans in Digbeth post match. One pub there were a fair few ordering food and we had a bit of a post match sesh, a good bit of money which would normally have been spent in Cov.

Our best bet is that the EU throw the case out in a few months time. And that’s grasping at straws. But at least maybe it’ll be a natural moment for Wasps to change their mind and someone to come up with a compromise.
Our best bet is that the EC rule that it was unlawful state aid, make Wasps cough up the extra £27m or give the stadium back to the council who then have no choice but to sell to the club or give us a proper rental agreement

For those principles to not be incredibly selective you'd have to do an immense amount of research before buying anything I'd have thought.

Only if you have principles

Getting upset about a telecoms company who may or may not be sponsoring a stadium, and then making a point to tell someone who works there on first line support exactly why I'm leaving, isn't that high up on my list of principles to be honest.

Sorry about that.

I think it was part of the deal that never happened (the original 5 year proposal that was on the table last season) that there would be a retail unit opened up for CCFC. It wouldn't be in the current unit, it would be elsewhere in the complex. That's not to say I buy the idea that the retail partners are upset about this.. Given the positive press the new kit has had and the high sales, I'd imagine they're quite happy.

I’ll definitely be doing the same when my internet contract comes to an end.

You aren't serious, surely? As a grown man (presumably) you won't use one of the biggest telecommunications companies in the world because they sponsor a hated rugby team? A telecommunications company that couldn't give a fuck if you died tomorrow?

A telecommunications company that if every single person who lived in Coventry stopped using them they STILL wouldn't give a fuck...?

We've sold 4 times as many kits as last season, can't see them being too unhappy.
Really don't know of anyone who has been able to get one yet.
I wanted on for my son went to the shop but only have away shirts in there.
Need to get there fingers out and make more.

I'm not sure why you're getting so over excited?

fuck me there are some cretins on here.... if someone wants to end their contract with vodaphone because they sponsor wasps then fair play, if they get asked why they are cancelling & tell the person at vodaphone why then fair play.

Will Vodaphone really care if one or two people cancel because of this , most likely not... would they care if the whoe of coventry cancelled their contracts, you are damn right they would, is it going to happen, of course not

Does it affect any of you keyboard warriors if someone decides to cancel because of their principals - no.... sit down! or maybe just say 'Fair play , if thats your stance' not start ribbing someone. bellends

Woah...that's a very different scenario. I think it's a bit distasteful to even compare the two. Won't get into another Liverpool debate but I think that's a whole different thing LG.
It’s interesting though. That there is a line and people see it in different places.

I think the more people that push back on the larger companies on these sort of things the more impact it can have.

I know within my company we are always looking at themes and trends and getting feedback on competitors and why people are choosing them over us and if a number of people cite that reason it will filter back.

Fair point but you're talking about a sporting debacle based around a stadium and a rugby team vs. the deaths of innocent people..apples and oranges.

Bellend? How grown up. I wasn't ribbing anyone...certainly no name calling...The irony of being called a keyboard warrior by someone calling people cretins and bellends.

Just shocked that people would go to these levels as if they think it matters.

Sounds like the rantings of a keyboard warrior to me

If Wasps were sponsored by Ben and Jerrys I'd probably be more likely to go with a Haagen Dazs but that's more of a throwaway 'fuck wasps' than any claim of principles, after all I assume at least three children worked themselves to death making my trainers and if they didn't I DEMAND to know why they were slacking off.

I just go for the cheapest option when my renewal comes up. If this time it's Vodafone then I'll move to the 2nd cheapest and if they ask why I'll say they sponsor London Wasps. Don't give a shit if it makes a difference or not, just rather give money to a company that has nothing to do with them.
