I think the attachment to him comes from him being 90% of the our fan base's "best ever player" (or potentially that), to have played for the club and moved on. The most expensive former player. The best goalscorer on the european stage. Potentially and it's interesting to people.

I want him to go on and win every thing he can, personally. Cov will always be mentioned when speaking about his career and that keeps us in the news. And that's why I'm interested in where he goes next. I doubt many are emotional about it, that's hyberbole. It's interesting because we are a massive part of his journey and he deserves a shot at proving just how good he is.

And don't mistake his agents actions for his.
Same - I’m a big fanboy of his for two main reasons: 1. IMO Best player I’ve seen play for us at least since Robbie Keane. 2. I have Swedish family so a bit of a sentimental reason to still want him to do well.

don’t like the agent stuff at all.

have to say I think Rio Ferdinand’s comments in the BBC article are ridiculous - it’s like he’s never seen him play. And once again overstating how good some premier league players are…. Some strikers are shite and still manage to score, it’s not like he’d be playing against world class defenders every week.

And to be fair I think he genuinely enjoyed his time here and looked very emotional about leaving in his goodbye video.

It was pretty obvious he wanted to go we got a very fair deal considering it was the last year of his contract. He gave his absolute best and played through an injury towards the end of the season and the money we got for him is partly responsible for where we are now.

Our most important player really since Dublin when you look at his full impact.

Ive read 2 separate sources today saying we'll get zero sell on fee if and when Vik moves. I thought we waived away 5% leaving us with 10%, but 2 separate sources today (one being talksport) have said we waived the entire 15% for a fee of around £800k? Is that just lazy journalism? Or really, really, bad business from Doug? Surely we still have 10%? Anyone in the know on this? Saddlebrains?

The money we paid for Grimes had to have come from somewhere given there were no sales. It’s possible

It’s bizarre how many are so emotionally invested in him still.

I personally would prefer to see him play for someone in Spain, Italy or France rather than the likes of Arsenal, Man United or Man City just as I can't stand those clubs, but don't really care at the end of the day as long as it makes us the most amount of money possible

We ain't gonna get tuppence from Vik's move (wherever, couldn't give a flying monkey's) The man has commanded his stock to a sum total of three clubs (none p'ship) which will result in Sporting selling at a very low level to cash in on the alternative of his free transfer.
The sale obviously may reward us with tuppence -Sorry, my bad.

[Reports of Juve interest now.

Most of the stories have blatantly been planted by his agent under instruction from VG. I’d imagine the Man Utd interest is probably the only firm interest at this stage, apart from Saudi Arabia.

Personally, I can understand why the ‘top’ sides are hesitant.

Arsenal will only go for him if sesko ain't happening I think.

I think he'll end up at a man utd or juve rather than a team currently at very top of game. Who knows though
