I’d love to know what actually caused America to think it was a wise idea to pull out of northern Syria. 48 hours later an all-out assault ensues from Turkish forces. The Kurdish have been hung out to dry - why on earth do we want association with such a vile country as the USA?

    Fixed.

And probably because Erdogan (and possibly Putin) buttered him up and got Trump to agree to it by thinking he'd won. Always been the danger IMO of a Presidential figure - a single individual can make decisions like this.

Also see our 'special relationship' won't see the wife of the US diplomat being returned here to face charges. Can you see them being happy if one of our lot fled the country after saying they wouldn't and us then refusing to return them?

It would have been an accident and may well have got a reduced punishment but having fled the country she's now made the situation a whole lot worse as there are lots of other charges she could now face.

They're losing friends fast as being shown to be untrustworthy allies and how they treat others with disdain.

you're right, apparently he did this without consulting inner sanctum. Even Lyndsey Graham slated him and he's normally a staunch supporter. He said it's a victory for ISIS. We shall soon see.

I feel for the Kurds. I've always said one day they will turn against the West and our politicians will be scratching there heads as to why the shower of stupid, useless bastards.

Aren't the Kurds patrolling keeping Isis prisoners locked up as well, or at least they were.

Apparently Erdogan has threatened to dump them in Europe should anyone dare to describe his actions as an 'occupation' too. No idea if that will constitute crossing 'the line' that Trump is going on about.

You know Trump has messed up when even Fox News are against it.

Probably not. Dumpng them in Europe is not Trump's problem - he couldn't give a fuck about Europe.

Threaten to dump them in the US however.....

Im not sure what benefit that would be to him but he certainly wants an excuse to crush any Kurdish military capability along his borders. Good luck to any US leader who wants to build a coalition in future, let's hope China doesn't decide to flex its muscles any time soon.

Yeah he's pretty clear that he isn't going to get involved with anything he sees as as somebody else's problem any longer.

Maybe it's just that I was too young to recall many leaders but it really does feel like we've got more nut-jobs running countries now on both sides of the political divide than in a long long time.

Trump, Putin, Jinping, Duterte, Erdogan, Assad, Mnangagwa in Zimbabwe, Saudi's the Turkmenistan guy. Those are just the ones off the top of my head and I barely know anything of those in Africa/Eastern Europe

Alexander is barely worth a footnote.

just been reading an interview with a Kurdish leader and he said they will still make sure the ISIS camps are properly guarded. He said they don't want to leave it to the Turks because they don't give a fuck about ISIS and will turn a blind eye to them as they have being doing throughout this conflict.

Must be fake news because Trump has been bragging that the USA (no mention of the Kurds) had caught 100% of ISIS so it was job done let’s get out of here.

it's disgusting what is happening to the Kurds. Though lets be honest, As much as trump is an absolute wanker I doubt it would be any different if it was obama or hilary.
Our politicians have been silent as well, the fucking pussies.

Did you see what he said about Kurds not helping us in WW2? It’s beyond ridiculous and apparently taken straight from the pages of a far right publication.

President Trump wisely wants the US to withdraw from all unnecessary foreign conflicts.
The majority of US citizens believe the US military should only get involved in conflicts that directly threaten the US homeland.
They are tired of being (and paying for) the world's police force.

President Trump and wise in the same sentence, fucking hell! The man who wanted to build a wall to stop illegal immigrants even though they were coming in through tunnels!

And, yes, they want to stop being the world police, that's why they delegated to the Kurds, and he showed his gratitude by throwing them under the bus.

The American economy is better than it's been in decades, more jobs, less unemployment, less illegal immigration, and we're not involved in any foreign conflicts.

they've thrown an ally who went above and beyond the call of duty under the bus and now they are being attacked by the Turks, you think it's OK to treat an ally like that? Fine, if that's the way your moral compass points but even Trumps close allies in the GOP have attacked him over this.
This will come back to bite us all on the arse.

And to be honest it's bollocks about not getting involved in world conflicts, the US, like the UK, will get involved where their Saudi puppet masters tell them to.

Erdogan is a crackpot who fancies rebuilding the Ottoman Empire. I really hope that the western countries are just giving him enough rope to hang him self and giving them an excuse to force him out.

And also untrue apparently - they fought with the RAF and Marines (but of course they're not American so I guess don't count to him)

But it's a ludicrous position to take. We'll be next for not getting involved in 'Nam. Can we ask why they took so long to help out in both WWI & II?

They do it because it makes a lot of countries toe the US line.

Take it away and the amount of influence they have diminishes. They might be in for a surprise when more allies don't just do what they say.

America's attitude to the world has become very similar to that of Colonial Britain. But they do say you eventually turn into your parents.

Or maybe it is designed to crush the remains of ISIS? The Turks won't piss about with arresting them...they'll just snub them out
