It is always about money. Rightly soWhile I like his ability, the way his agent is seemingly offering him to the highest bidder makes me think it is more about money than the club. Personally, I want a player at coventry as they like the manager, the trajectory of the club and want to help take us to the next level. If he was asking for 18k per week is now is after 28k I would be cautious.

Gyokeres is the perfect example of this. He could have probably earned more at Everton and Wolves who were after him at the time, but thinking strategically he's put himself in the window for elite clubs and a bumper signing on fee.Football careers are short, and clever players think strategically about moves that will benefit them both now and potentially enhance their earning power in the future.
Other than the climate... There isn't much between Sporting & Wolves for Portuguese players.Gyokeres is the perfect example of this. The difference in Gyokeres or Maddison to McNulty or George ThomasI would respectfully disagree. Whilst money is certainly a factor, many players prioritise career development and long-term prospects over immediate financial gain. I've seen countless examples of players choosing clubs where they'll get regular playing time and can develop their skills, even if it means accepting lower wages initially. They understand that consistent performances and improvement in their game often lead to better contracts down the line.
The players who focus solely on the biggest wage packet sometomes find themselves warming the bench, watching their careers stagnate whilst their value decreases. Playing time and development are currency too.
If money were truly the only motivator, we'd see a mass exodus to Saudi Arabia and other high-paying leagues. The fact that many players turn down those lucrative leagues shows they're weighing up factors like career progression, level of competition, and personal fulfilment alongside financial considerations.

And then there was Bigi. Who can blame him for the Newcastle move. Came back a worse player but a rich oneThe difference in Gyokeres or Maddison to McNulty or George Thomas
There's a chance he'd not be playing 2 tier aussie football at 32Up to a point. There is another major difference between Gyökeres or Maddison and McNulty or Thomas - talent.
I loved McNulty for the effort he put in during our league 2 season but he got a move to Championship wages for three years and while on loan at his childhood club got to play for Scotland. His career progressed perfectly. If he stayed with us it’s not likely that either he or us would be playing in the Premiership right now.
On the other hand, loads of us would love to be even have the talent to play second tier footy in Australia. There's a chance he'd not be playing 2 tier aussie football at 32
yeah, ok that is true but not the point I was makingOn the other hand, loads of us would love to be even have the talent to play second tier footy in Australia.
I was rubbish at football, all enthusiasm, but no talent*, so anyone who actually makes it in the professional game has my admiration.
*Like Paul Telfer.

I don't think anyone during the 17/18 season would have had Jordan Shipley playing more games at a higher level than Tom Bayliss... the benefits of staying.yeah, ok that is true but not the point I was making
