This is a photograh. It certainly doesn't clear anything up, especially if there was a gun involved, as it is not shown here. That is also aimed at the counter-story which has a picture of a gun with next to no context either.

You weren't there, and neither was anyone in this thread. There is a lot of disinformation going on from people that want their agenda matched online and I don't think the truth of this has actually been made available enough for any of us to make a totally confident 100% judgement.

And there is absolutely NO justification to fire that many shots at someone. It's an execution, simple as, emboldened by Trump and his cronies defence of the previous incident with Good. I agree with the amount of shots fired, it is extremely excessive. Again though, we don't know the context. If he had a gun and starts wrestling around and fighting, many law enforcement officers have been killed this way dealing with criminals. They are not going to hesitate in shooting you for that reason. When they shoot you, they will do so to make sure you aren't getting up. It isn't just a warning.

What we do know is that law enforcement do not fuck around in the US. If someone thinks it is ok to wave a gun around (with or without a permit) and expect nothing to happen, then that is ridiculously naive. It's easy to get outraged online, but it is not the real world. America is a shit show in that regard, and it is extremely irresponsible for people whipping up others by telling them to resist or that kicking off is ok. We are going to see more people killed. This is not the UK where you might get pepper sprayed or hit with a baton. You are in all likelihood getting shot, and it is game over.

And no, I would not like to see these practices in the UK. I think we need to be a lot tougher on immigration, but that doesn't mean what they are doing is going the right way about it. I have said many times that I do not agree with many of their behaviours and tactics, and I do actually think (whether this is relevant in this situation or not is too early to tell) Trump is enabling this significantly by making this department largely unaccountable.

If he had a weapon, which looks like it might have been removed by one person who was out of sight from the others, at more or less the same time as the first shots were fired, where is the reaction time to make a sensible decision? In a life or death situation, which this could have been, where many law enforcment officers lose their lives, you are not going to take any chances. You have no idea what is being said, you have no idea how many weapons he might have, and you have no idea if he can overpowerer you and shoot. You have absolutely no idea if he was a threat to life. At this point no one in this thread does, but if he has a gun on him, there is a good chance law enforcement are not taking any chances, especially if you are fighting with them. You are narrating the version of events you want to be true over the video, but at present most of it is unclear and there is a significant lack of context, so I am certainly going to take every version of this with a pinch of salt. Exactly. You have no idea that he was a threat to life. But you're working on the assumption that you want, that he had a gun and therefore could have been considered a lethal threat by the agents. Every reply you've made has made the point about a gun, yet it's very unclear whether there was a weapon at all, and if there was he could have been carrying it perfectly legally and not brandishing it.
