Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already (21 Viewers)

We have a direct comparison of how Trump announces such things compared to Obama.

Here's Obama grinning like a Cheshire cat while Trump delivers a very statesman-like announcement.

I'd forgotten about him explaining to us thickos that special forces don't just knock on a terrorist's front door and ask to come in

He was responsible for escalated violence across the Middle East. He relished military involvement

What specifically do you think was wrong about this action yesterday?

He’s a total sociopath and he doesn’t even have the self awareness to try and hide it.

He may well be but invasions in the Middle East aren’t exactly new. One thing Jimmy Carter wasn’t was a sociopath

Personally I feel Obama going after the terrorist leader that changed the US forever isn’t comparable to bombing Iran for having Nuclear powers but not allowing Israel to keep theirs.

How many western leaders would agree with you on the second part of that statement? No western leader would agree and in fact only Iran would - true?

What makes you think it will be a success?

I didn’t say it has achieved its goals. I don’t know. It’s certainly on its own pretty irrelevant to World Peace.

If stops the development of a nuclear weapon it's a short-term success.
Regime change is unlikely. So Iran continues its plans to up ballistic missile production as it's seen Israeli defences can be overwhelmed; rearms Hezbollah, Hamas and others and the cycle of violence continues until one day everything collapses.
When you've 2 extreme protagonists (Israel & Iran) there is no middle ground unless both regimes can be changed.

Carter wasn't it?
Well he launched that spectacular failure of an operation to rescue US hostages and the USA armed the Afghan mujahadin to fight against the Soviet invasion in his time.

He never got a 2nd term because he appeared weak and the economy tanked with the oil crisis and hyper inflation.

Well then there's the answer to your original question.

I honestly thought the US arbitrarily bombing countries in the Persian Gulf in the name of stopping some nebulous WMD program would be less popular than it is, but you’ve already shown today that your memory isn’t what it used to be.

It really isn’t. You mocked Trump for being the president of peace. Obama had was actively involved in military incursions across the Middle East and Pakistan wasn’t he?

I never said anything about Obama's record, I simply pointed out your utterly wrong observation and subsequent amusing backtrack.

Surprised no one has started an Israel/USA - Iran bombing thread.

No surprise the repercussions have started.

Think I read that it’s the only route any Middle Eastern countries (Saudi etc) can export oil and also China relies on oil supplies coming through here. So even if they confirmed it’s going to be shut, I can’t imagine other countries would allow this to be for long. Saying that, Putin will be happy, no wonder he’s agreeing to supply arms…keeps things going ! (think they’ve got a mutual defence deal anyway)

Great news for Russia.
It's cute but the Iranian Parliament can't order anything - down to the religious bods. Plus they share the strait with Oman. Any attacks on shipping in international waters would provoke all sorts of responses.

I really haven’t. Still I guess the powers of the SBT forum know far more than every western leader.

The comment by someone regarding why would we allow Israel nuclear weapons and not Iran has got to be in the hall of fame.

Wow really??? Why?
A totally unprovoked attack??

If your clearly stated objective is 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel' and you're within a whisker of having deployable nuclear missiles, I'd say there's a significant element of provocation.

Fuck around and find out.

The hope is of course that the oppressed people of Iran rise up and free themselves of the evil regime.
