Journalists don’t tend to get their information from ringing up the manager and asking, unless you think that Pep was on the phone 24/7 a couple of weeks ago letting journalists know they’d signed Erling Haaland. As irrelevant as Turner has been for a while now he’s still been doing the job for a long time and I’d imagine he’d at least have some contacts within the club, especially as we have two posters on here who seem to have a direct line to whatever information they want. Wouldn’t imagine it’s particularly hard for a local journalist to find out what club Robins went to watch when he was over in the Netherlands etc. even without having Robins number on speed dial.That's not really the point though is it.

You'll probably notice that the ITK posters don't often give out names and if they do, the player/s in question has likely already been signed. It just hasn't been officially announced yet.

It's not a case that journalists ring up agencies or football clubs they don't know in order to prize information out of them. That's a pretty massive misconception from fans.
Even national writers such as Alan Nixon have a difficult time and they have a network of contacts, which they've spent decades building, who they can call upon for speculative or unannounced transfer news. And even then they'll only be told what such parties want them to know.
So what chance does Andy Turner have when anyone close to the club would've been told to under no circumstances talk to the press regarding such matters and he quite clearly has zero contacts within the wider industry?

We’re a Championship football club, not Fort Knox, if a couple of posters on a forum are able to get some insider information it’s hardly a ridiculous suggestion that a local journalist might also know a couple of people who know a few things. Mark Robins isn’t the only person in the world who knows the names of some players we might be looking at. I worked in the football industry for a few years, with pretty close ties to a lower league club and I’d always hear information about who they were looking at, it’s really not that secretive.Why do you disagree?

In the close season as a sport journalist I'm sure it's not easy to fill a local paper with Coventry City stories when realistically nothing is happening and everyone is on holiday. I'm pretty sure there are no 'concrete rumours' as Andy won't report any names until they are pretty much done. Given Andy has worked with Robins for about five years (over Robins two spells) I would say he has a pretty decent relationship with him.I mean it's pretty obvious.
