Depends what’s in the loan agreement, I did find it strange was reported we put the best case forward…games!

Also he’s just been on pre-season tour in australia. Jetlag will also be a factor

Watch it not even be Adaramola that signs.

See what you are saying but we had agreed a deal with JCS which as we know didn’t happen although we have snapped up a couple of loans since id think most of the JCS wage will still be available.

Well it should soon be 3 loans. What if the JCS deal was done with the anticipation of players going out of the club who haven't? Talking to the board suggests it is a budgetary issue. We also don't know what else is in the pipeline or what contingency budget there might be? It could even be just a player coming available in a position we haven't previously ear marked to strengthen and therefore not been in the budget plan?

It could also be about managing his game time and not playing a young player into the ground - which could be detremental to his development. Also our track record of coaches working and bringing on young players would have been considered.

Yeah tbf in his circumstance going from not playing at all, to playing some at a goodlevel is probably sufficient.

Even if you don't rate Bidwell particularly, he was obviously signed partly to give us some extra know-how at this level. Sure, Hyam and Rose have an extra year's experience now, but McFadzean's age always lends some doubt how much he'll play (watch it be 46 games now) and given Dabo's injury record ain't great the past couple of seasons, potentially we end up with a back 5 of Eccles, Hyam, Panzo, Doyle, Adaramola... which lacks something in experience bar Hyam!

There are 8 fixtures until the transfer/loan window closes, 7 league, 1 cup-tie, that’s a lot, certain Robins will keep some budget back suss out where we are at, apart from Todd Kane one or two may well go on loan thinking Walker or Waghorn their freed up wages or part of them may be very usEful going to be interesting what our squad looks like come October.

It's without reason isn't it. He might be the second coming, but I suspect not even Robins or Viera know that yet - hence a loan to the likes of us!

Based on the rave reviews from Palace fans, he might brilliant he might be way off it. Maatsen was hardly experienced last season and I think most of us would of played him over Bidwell.

Most our fans want players playing who arent in the side because they havent made mistakes. Hence the regular comment "Robins needs to make at least 4 substitutions at halftime" and he clearly didn't because we went on to win. The debate is why play and debute a 18 year old with no experience over a very experienced player who has done well in pre season? The answer is Robins won't. Bidwell will start unless he gets injured before Sunday.

McCallum and Maatsen both had decent seasons with us as 18 olds so no issues with me about playing the Palace lad if it’s him as long as MR deems he is good enough.

A young player is not going to have the knowledge that a pro who has played 200 games in the championship has. But that means nothing if the younger player is as good and has different abilities that suit the formation or style of play.

I think if he is better then age doesnt mean nothing, he will learn fast and training with a prem 1st team will of done him well. We also don't know if MR wants to be more defensive away and more attacking at home, which means different players who do different roles. And this kid and Bidwell are at different ends of the scale

Im all for it, comes from a good place, top coaching great environment snd has seen top players on a day to day basis perform. He sounds like a level head, wants a career and has assets that make him a good option. The fact he is as fast as a gazelle really helps us as we are a side that breaks fast. Depth in talent is never a bad thing and long may it continue.

If Bidwell performs great its his shirt to lose, if he thinks its his shirt just because he played in the championship we will be in the shit.

Every player has to play with fear of not playing, u build internal competition which drives on others. Im struggling to see why bringing in young hungry players has a downside. This should even push Burroughs to demand what he needs to do to improve. Long season we will need depth in all positions due to fixtures and injuries. Bidwell will not be scared of seeing a bright young kid, he should and i for one hopes he loves the challenge.

Having watched him play extensively for our U18s, U23s and first team, it's pretty obvious he's a serious talent and there were probably discussions internally as to whether to keep him and have him play for our first team or send him out on loan as he's rated that highly.

He's our best first team prospect.

I'd say right now he's as good as any Premier League wingback going forward, extremely quick, great dribbler, good passer, great energy to get up and down and has the ability to pick people out with crosses.

His defending still needs some work. he lets crosses at times a bit too easily, needs to be better at defending the back post from crosses on the other side and his awareness needs to be better at tracking runners but having said that he was up against Salah for 10 minutes last week and completely neutralised him so hopefully he's improved in that regard.

If we were relegated last season I have no doubt he'd be starting for us in the Championship.

He's a good kid and will make watching Coventry a lot of fun, I'm sure there will be lots of Palace fans tuning in to see him play.

That's good to know although lets face it, until he actually plays mens' football, none of us really know how he'll adapt to it.

hope you’re right mate. seems like good contrast then, Tayo more attacking and Bidwell a bit more solid at the back.

Fair play to Palace, invested lots into your youth system, opened a new £20m site too I think? Something we should have done when had some money!

With 5 subs to use this season he will get plenty of game time whether he starts or not. Initially Bidwell will start, and deservedly so as he seems to have had a good pre season. Off the bench with 20 minutes to go against tiring defences sounds to be a perfect introduction for the Palace lad though. Thereafter much will probably depend on the opposition as it sounds like Bidwell will be the more solid of the two and Adamarola the more adventurous.

He's already started against Stoke in the FA Cup last season and performed well and had minutes against Man U and Liverpool on the pre-season tour as well.

The only reason he might struggle is he's still only 18 and moving away from home might be difficult for him.

Ultimately he's absolutely rapid, so it doesn't really matter if he's up against boys or men he will just run past them.

I've never seen anyone able to track his runs off the ball runs so providing your midfielders can pick him out he'll be away.
