Coventry, rock bottom of League One and heading for the fourth tier, have signed Watford forward Michael Folivi on loan. He must have been about 17th choice striker at Vicarage Road.

BBC pretty much spot on with this one

17th choice?

i don't know what some of you expect

Reality check, we are a fucked basket case of a club at the foot of division 3 with a disgruntled fan base.

Why aren't we signing quality experienced 20 goal strikers?!

Beggars can't be choosers

I am just disappointed because we need a nasty bugger up front to ruffle the defences not sure an 18 year old is going to do that....ahh well lets hope we recruit well in the summer so we don't have to face this shit yet again next season in league 2

Can't see this Folivi guy making one iota of difference. He's 18, only turned professional in 2015 and has played just one first team game.
Surely George Thomas would be ahead of him in the pecking order?

Wish we could go back 12 months and get Henderson - where is Fortune?

Exactly. I must be the only one who expected it to be a lot worse than it actually was.

Would have needed the money to get them though

I just genuinely believed he had to have a genuine target man just ready to sign.
Especially because of the style of football.
I genuinely would swap any of the players linked to moving out for a proper striker.

Same here. Said at the start I would be pleasantly surprised if we signed anyone and kept the kids.

On the other thread you suggested a striker about as big as Ronnie Corbett

Positives:

1) We've bought six new players in, all of whom have shown glimpses of adding something to the team. The exception perhaps being Reilly who seems no better than anyone we already had.
2) Those six also included three defenders, an area that needed addressing.
3) Depsite the rumours (and subsequent pandemonium on here) we resisted all offers for players. Side note - still not sure what has prompted the change of stance from SISU.
4) Still two players on trial, so we could still strength further.

Negatives:
1) The only one that really matters - no target man type striker signed. RS surely now has to change his tactics, we cannot play hoofball to any of the existing strikers. Plus it is clearly not working.
2) While the signings will hopefully improve the team, none are participating exciting or inspiring.

Think there's 4 on trial.

The lad from Swansea and Hammond will be the same sort of player I'd guess.

Yes, my one big worry. For the tactics we have been deploying we haven't brought the right type of player in, that of a big strong target man.

We HAVE to change tactics. Going to be pointless just lumping the ball upfield it it is simply going to be swallowed up by the defence.

If it is to be the long ball it is going to have to be down the channels for wide players to run on to.

So he has only played 1 game. But that was in the Prem. How many players do we have that would get a game in a Prem side? He will have been coached to a good standard. And he can score goals.

Not what I was hoping for but still looks like a decent signing.

Thought the same from Agyei and Wright although to be fair it was TM doing the signings and his talent spotting left a lot to be desired

Ryan Allsopp is on the bench for B'mouth regularly.

Be very careful my friend.

So Bournemouth have a better GK than one we loaned a few years ago. What is your point?

Alright, without the sarcasm my point was essentially trying to say that despite having played on Prem game, it doesn't necessarily mean a great deal. Allsopp was pretty shit and he's on the bench there, pretty sure Andre Wright got a game for the first team in the cup too and I'm better than him.

Whilst I want to give this new lad a chance and I admire your open minded optimism, I think it is looking pretty bleak, and I would be more surprised than not if this lad does make an impact.

I think one in is okay. My only gripe that it is not a big strong target man.

I'm pleased that Willis, Haynes, Harries and Stevenson weren't sold on the cheap. I was convinced at least 2 of the 3 would go. Yes it would be nice to have signed a big target man but good strikers are hard to come by and we don't have a pot to piss in so beggars can't be choosers.

My only real gripe is that the likes of Lawton, Harries, Spence, Thomas etc should be playing regularly ahead of loanees.

Adam Armstrong was 18 and was awesome for us, 20 in 40. He is not quite so good for Barnsley 4 in 17, so obviously the step up was/is too much. Give the lad a chance he may well do okay in this league. It is full of big lumps and bruisers but to kick you they have to catch you lol.

Lawton.. why? Wheres the evidence of his ability? Spence had a decent pre season but nothing more. Thomas, I assume George, is a regular now. Harries until very recently was behind 3 permanent signings.

In the case ofLawton, we have long been told of his potential, seems odd that we gave him a short term contract while injured only to release him now. Especially we will more than likely need to rebuild for next season ( probably in league 2)

Slade has announced there could be one more player in by the end of this week.

It's the same experienced player he was chasing last week.

All too little, too late surely.

Any club should always be looking for that something to improve the team, but at some point I think you have to look at it and know when to call it a day and admit the situation your in.
Unless that player will be part of plans going forwards to 2017/18.

Doesn't sound like it. It's the same player from previous. Some thinking Odemwingi and some, Carlton Cole.

Doesn't sound like a long term thing.

What if we lose the next two games and are 15 or 16 points adrift? By the end of the week it will be pointless.

You would imagine they could be in by Friday or Saturday, but won't be ready to go straight into the first team.

All sounds a little too late for me.

A keeper though WOULD be great.
