What's the speed of sound?

That actually varies by his altitude at the time, it's 761mph at sea level but drops a lot the higher you get.


e: worked it, out, at 100,000 feet it's 684mph, at his speed he hit Mach 1.066.

Yhis dude is crazy. Shame he opened the shoot ten seconds too early to break the freefall record.

Apparently that was down to his visor fogging up apparently, he couldn't see his altitude properly.


Was a bit of an anticlimax, fair play to him for doing it but a bit boring :(

Just wait for the view from the cameras in his suit!

Reminds me of an old joke.....
I was watching the space shuttle once and I said to my Dad, "I wish I could be shot into space!"
