Exactly. None of it makes sense and out of character for TM to even say anything about his transfer plans before the deal is done.

Maybe the deal is virtually done and this call he had to make was actually done yesterday?

It could all be mind games

Let's be realistic, it's not going to be Joey Barton.

Retired to play semi-pro rather than join Hartlepool last season, unlikely to be him.

Eustace hasn't joined Rangers. He is just in trial I believe... although I don't think it will be him.

Money not an issue for the player, but it reduces what we have to spend and he knows we need a striker or 2 and wide man.
I think he is saying it now, because if he does bring him in all hell will break lose about another midfielder and no striker lol.

Agreed, he doesn't want to upset the football management experts on here!

Possibilities: Matthew Etherington/Seyi Olofinjana/Wilson Palacios?

it's just something you have to assume. Why would a player call up Mowbray unless he'd worked with him before and knew him?

Micheal tonge? Just a guess
maybe Chris herd? Might be a stupid suggestion, but 27 years old, played in prem and championship, would have earnt a fair whack at villa, and surely still lives locally?

Might support the club?
Might live locally?
might have a good chance of playing here if it's towards end of his career?
we have a good manager for this level so may want to work with him?

there are plenty of reasons why they could be calling.

It doesn't mention anywhere that he's worked with TM before...

Maybe, just maybe... This mystery player (or his agent) has contacted a number of clubs trying to join them. That's something that would be completely out of the ordinary and hasn't been done before wouldn't it?!

Could it be someone like Darren Pratley? Or maybe Karl Henry? Looked through all released players from Prem and Championship. Not many you would class as players that had made there money and are cm's. Maybe some of the names previously mentioned are not as wacky as they first seemed.

Pratley is club captain at Bolton and under contract til 2018.

Henry still contracted to QPR although i think i read they were trying to offload him because of his wages.
