Interesting article with Rich Stevens

INTERVIEW: Academy boss tips Bayliss for future stardom

It has not been all plain sailing for the City youngster. Bayliss came to the Sky Blues as an 11-year-old and was signed after attending an open trial night.

He progressed through the age groups but had a series of injury setbacks, including a back problem at 15, which put him out for almost half a year.

Indeed.

I see him more as a Pirlo/Zidane type myself, with a little bit of Cruyff thrown in.

Style of play, not standard of play, running with the ball, turning the marker, heading towards goal. Yes. End product to be determined.
Thank god you asked me calm down, I was about to spontaneously combust.

I think Bayliss style is his own and long may it be so . He will become a class act ,I hope a lot of career will be with us . I like the way he will not be intimidated by anyone if I did liken to someone it would be a young Michael Doyle

Stoke didn't do their homework and thought they would beat us regardless. They gave him room to play in and he took full advantage. At Exeter it was a different situation, against a side not gifted with talent but clever. They closed down his space and bullied him out the game.
Still has lots and lots to learn. Hopefully he'll do that with us for a bit longer.

It IS his own style, but in 30 years time other teams will be saying of their own up and coming rising midfield star 'He's got a bit of Charlton, Pele and Bayliss about him,' to which some will reply, 'What? Calm the fook down, he's his own style of player'

Another good game from him again today? Playing out of position wide right but listening to commentary he had a part to play in the goal. 18 years old, had two big challenges so far a step up in opposition against Stoke and MK Dons and doesn’t seem fazed just plays his normal game

This video just shows his confidence and belief in his ability. Starts inside his own half, beats a man easily with a drop of a shoulder..drives forward, tries to pass forward gets intercepted.

He has two choices then.

a) He can pass the ball backwards and play the safe option after seeing his pass intercepted

or

b) Keep the ball for a few seconds and look for another forward pass to create an opportunity

He’s a risk taker and to be doing that at 18 years old imo is outstanding.

Indeed and clubs were aware of him even before he made his debut. He’s a good talent, he should stay with Cov for now though. Any move would be silly, much better getting another 15-20 L2 games under his belt before seeing where he’s at

From The Telegraph:

Biamou’s goal was orchestrated by 18-year-old Tom Bayliss, who was has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur among others.

David Pleat, who scouted Dele Alli for Spurs, was at Stadium MK to see Bayliss neatly slide in Marc McNulty, whose cross was converted by Biamou.

Derby offered a deal rising to £1million and were prepared to loan back Bayliss to Coventry for the rest of the season, but the League Two club turned down the offer.

If that’s the offer the club must be very confident he is going to sign a new contract.

As I’m sure with a tribunal we’d get nothing near that amount in the summer.
