Those fans inside Sixfield Stadium only please ...... (1 Viewer)

Fuck you.

I know where your coming from but can we move the situation on. There will always be some fans there, particularly friends and family of the team etc. (and away fans)
So in view of that the numbers are now known to be abysmal and its now known by everybody, we have voted with our feet, what needs to happen next ?

We can't seem to get at SISU (ACL?) so do we really need to slag off our fellow fans that perhaps we sat by or drank with last season?

The SIXFIELDS (constructive apologies for childishness) experience to date is Played 6 W4 D1 L1 - with the exception of Brentford, fans have seen either a winning team or an entertaining match and often both, if we have an even weakened side we will be beaten more unlike to play the same quality of football in an even more deserted stadium. I see this scenario as more likely than less likely. We the Sixfields 1000 still be so bullish then or will it have become the Sixfields 500.

Being unable to produce a competitive in the third division of English football is a totally different scenario to the top flight years as mentioned earlier, where Swindon and Brentford will be considered more attractive propositions to our stars than playing for the once mighty cov.

There is a typo "we the sixfields 1,000" I meant will the sixfields 1,000 - I will never visit Sixfields unless Cov are playing an away game or Northampton are at home, both unlikely Cobblers will be a conference side next year and by next season it will be liquidation or back at the Ricoh.

Supporters are entitled to watch the team, at Northampton, without other supporters calling them all sort of names.
We soon have Saturday games at Northampton, I think the support will pick up.

Its a bit of a rhetorical question - the damage is done. Sisu got the club into a mess , didnt grasp the crap deal they had done until it was too late, dithered in the last year of the Championship with Thorn when we could easily have stayed up...so;

As a positive SISU actually seem now to understand the importance of the team to running a football club - and Waggott is key to that - good manager, intelligent signings, academy development etc

The situation at Sixfields is actually ok by me as a short term - the problem with SISU is that there is nothing to really give us any confidence that there is a future plan - new stadium seems a pipe dream so the thought of 3 years at Sixfields is appalling

Other than that, bearing in mind no one really wants to be in Northampton, they are doing their best - you certainly feel welcomed and they are trying hard to make it feel like home. With the good performances it really is a good experience being there - sorry but its true. Certainly it is no worse than the Ricoh in terms of fan experience.

Do I trust SISU - NO, but do I think staying away will change their mind? - NO

A per many sentiments above; a well considered post. Not my mindset, but life's all about differing opinion.

Where I principally struggle to align myself with you is that which I've underlined. You state that Sixfields is okay as a short term plan, but there's no long term plan. If there is no long term plan; does that not mean that moving the club was a profoundly strange business decision; and all this pain is for what? It can only be to distress ACL, surely?

And if you agree with that, it means that SISU are jeopardising the club's very existence in order to gain a financial fulcrum. And surely, that's reprehensible on every level for any 'fan'?

Bezzer, there is WEDGE between those that go to Sixfields (inside) and many of those that don't. How on earth do you expect us to feel exactly? Put simply, if NO CCFC fans went we would be back in Coventry very quickly. So, those few inside Sixfields, who 'just want to support the team,' they say,' are part of the problem. They are holding up a much quicker resolution. No wonder many people feel aggrieved.
You ask Valiant to change the record, well, have a look in your own record collection, your record is stuck in a groove too.
The boycott is slowly working.
And I'd like to add - 'Sisu are pure evil and not capable of any good.'
Their track record speaks for itself. The only guy I'd exempt is Steve Waggott. Doing a good job in horrendous circumstances. The rest are crooks.

What happens next is a waiting game until the next wave of communcations from ACL / SISU. Could be post Judicial Review. There is more chance of SISU losing this appeal and if this happens we may see a change in approach - Maybe they will be more open to a cheap rent deal or a smaller stake in the Stadium (25 - 50%??).

One thing is clear to me - they are very keen to go back to the Ricoh in some guise - they must be! They have already changed from - 'We have moved on and you will see the stadium plans in a couple of weeks' to 'We have sort of moved on but won't wait around'. I don't think we ever get the full picture but it is softening from the Forums' stance.

In the meantime the arguments will continue as everyone is frustrated and fed up of the whole situation.

I don't care about the past anymore. My biggest issue now with the owners is that they are not doing enough to get supporters on their side and get them to sixfields supporting the team.

Thats is a fair comment AndreasB, what would your suggestion be to make SISU change there mind and pick up the phone to the Council or ACL?

Matty I really dont know and sorry for being so dismissive about the hill protests - I suppose its just a reaction for being made to feel a pariah for attending - I still get tweets that you wouldnt believe for attending.

It feels like this situation actually suits SISU and ACL and therefore neither would pick up the phone to each other.- Sisu have probably now budgetted for a massive loss this year on Sixfields and gives them the breathing space whilst they (pretend to?) source a new stadium, whilst ACL can of hide and point to SISU. We of course continue to miss out.

My only helpful suggestion would be to revitalise the Trust- go back to their founding principles, smarten themselves up a bit and no meetings in Pub back rooms. If they upped membership to a fiver it could unlock a much more potent force. They then need to get the Telegraph and CWR onside, active support of ex-players etc and have some credible leadership. Their charter is actually quite sensible but they need to really stick to principles - ie no NOPM style communications and dont fall in with false prophets again for the promise of "fan ownership" - give something that the 1700 sixfields attendees can also believe in , and the 9000 "missing" fans who we dont really know motives- not just the 50 on the hill.

Spion, I'm not a SISU apologist and like you I also detest them. However, that doesn't alter the facts that we're now playing our games outside of Coventry and I don't think any amount of NOPM protests will change that. SISU will either return us to the Ricoh on their terms, or if your empty stadium scenario were to happen, they'd simply liquidate us.

I don't believe the boycott is slowly working in the way you want it to. The only thing it is doing is giving SISU more ammunition to liquidate us and then blame the stay away fans.

My posts may come across as one sided but I just wish people would see there's more than one villain to this piece

So what can we do? In all honestly I don't know :(

It would cut both ways if it wasn't you constantly trying to goad supporters and be confrontational. You can plead your innocence all you want, I've been reading this forum for years and its ALWAYS you that starts whatever argument you're in.

Agree Andreas. The Trust really need to demonstrate some leadership to make themselves more credible, and the idea of "smartening up" and maybe increasing membership contribution sounds reasonable. This would be much more liekly to raise awareness and bring some more influential types on board.

This percieved wedge - I couldn't see it!! I went to Sixfields for the first time yesterday. My daughter was mascot. The staff and players were amazing with her and made a real fuss. Yes, it was a shame and, actually pretty heartbreaking but the actual wedge you speak of?? I had been messaging and talking to some of the hillers and boycotters all afternoon on FB chat and text - as well as in the days leading up to and following the match. You see, most people aren't us and them black and white - the are we and shades of grey - which is a reflection of everything in life!!

Those involved in the day to day at the club were fantastic (I just want to make that absolutely clear). The club, as I saw it, is far from dead - it's just not sure what treatment it needs following some unethical treatment which hasn't worked out.

Tim Fisher even spotted my SISU Out badge when I was talking to him, which lead to a lovely awkward moment or two!!

I think this wedge is bigger on the forum than in real life. Although when people like Les Reid blow a few choice words between the "scabs" and "muppets" out of proportion that doesn't help either.

SISU's stance is that the club is not for sale but why would they liquidate ahead of selling? Is writing this huge amount off so significant (40-45million??) I doubt that it would be! I'm a previous ST holder and like thousands of others can't watch the side in Northampton. I feel there is more chance of the situation resolving itself by not attending in the same way those in the minority decide to attend.

We are the 2000 who paid a pound and then come on here moaning about their leadership or poor communications - think we need a genuine clear the air meeting about the Trust direction - some new volunteers from the corporate world who can represent credibly , think about strategy - The campain for real ale gets laughed at for being beardies but has doubled membership in 5 years and actually forced a law change on beer duty escalator this year - their secret? believable strategy they are entirely focussed on, committed volunteers, network and credibilitywith influencers (MPs etc) They also dont blown off course but short term setbacks or direction changes.

We could do that with the talent and passion that the fans of this club must collectively share.

I went to a open meeting of the Trust about 6 weeks ago, a clear message was put to them.
Why not go to one of these meetings Andrea?

The majority of fans don't and won't go to Sixfields. That is the clear message I have taken from the first few games of the season. It will be interesting to see the attendances when we are playing a midweek freezing game against a poorly supported team.

Of course not - the club would cease to exist in that case. Your point I assume is that by going to Sixfields we are legitimising SISU somehow and therefore slowing down the chances of them exiting? You could take the view that by going to sixfields we are actually helping the club continue as an entity. You should thank me for it but I doubt you will.

Agreed, but if NO one went thngs would be sorted quicker.
The FL would have to get involved again.

Yes but we all know that's NEVER going to happen! I think there's a hardcore of 1000 who will go to Sixfields whatever.

We (as fans) have to try a different tack.

What, the (1,500 x avg of say £8 per head) £12,000 per game is making a difference? Seriously?

Zero fans sends out such a strong message, way beyond financial.

bit like a freezing midwinter game at the Ricoh as I remember - no fucker turned up for that either. BUT THATS OK ISNT IT?
