Sat in a well known opticians whose name begins with "S" yesterday waiting to be seen.A older gentleman pulled up outside on a mobiilty scooter He struggled to make his way to the counter on getting there he asked for olive oil for ears.Got out his money to pay only to be told he needed a card.Out he went without said olive oil. I do hope he managed to purchase it at the shop next door where he would have got it cheaper and they do take cash.Comes to something when cash of the realm cannot buy what you want.

Any shop that doesn’t take either cash or card in this day and age deserves to lose customers, just take both that way everyone is happy

Agreed, but at the same time who doesn't have a card nowadays? They are so easy to get.

This is the thing. How many people are trying to pay cash in Specsavers. Do you really want all the hassle of training staff in how to do the daily banking, and having someone have to actually do it, when you probably go days or even weeks without anyone paying in cash.

We have fallen so far since the days when anyone with a Saturday job in the market was expected to take cash, get the change right and all in £sd.

Bugger. If I can’t pay my builder in cash he will charge me VAT and have to declare everything to HMRC.
What’s the world coming to when they crush the black market.

Behaviour of other people on public transport is a well-worn topic in this thread by now, but: People who spread their belongings all over the table on a train. Absolute psychopaths

People who drive and struggle to keep on their side of the road
Bit of a generalisation but usually women with oversized cars that they can’t properly control
Cutting corners too tight when turning right almost taking the front end off any car approaching the junction
Cyclists with the same behaviour putting themselves at risk

Yep hate this. there’s a notoriously tight street near me yet everyone in their big Suv’s they can’t drive feels the need to go down them

I live near two schools. The number of parents (majority BMW, Audi, SUV drivers) who are all over the road and having near misses is astonishing. The speed they drive up my road, which is a 20 limit, is insane. You'd think people on the school run would give a shit about safe driving.

Omg this sends me to the fucking moon and seems to have become 1000x worse over the last few years, I now approach T junctions really gingerly because of the amount of times someone has turned right from the main road at 50mph and cut across my lane

all SUVs, pseudo 4x4s, whatever tf they're called.

"I've got a kid(s) so I need one!"

WHY!

small boot, harder for kids to get in and out of, more likely to kill a kid if you hit them. It's just an avg. size saloon with big wheels. F*ck off. Get in the f*cking sea.

Last week I was heading from the Uni towards the roundabout on Kirby Corner Road. Shortly before the roundabout there is a bend and as I approached it a van came towards me round the bend partially on the wrong side of the road (possibly going a little over the 30 limit) because it was overtaking a bicycle that was on the bend. Bloody moronic boy racer.

They're planning new homes near me (well its been going on for years and there's no sign of breaking ground anytime soon) and all I hear is about the impact on the traffic.

People who live in what were 2 bed terraces that have been massively extended to 3, 4 or even 5 bedrooms to facilitate way more occupants that originally planned.

Houses that have parking for zero cars, or if the front has been modified space for one small car without overhanging the pavement.

Yet most of the houses have 2 to 5(!) cars but can't see that they're part of the reason the roads are so congested.

Ryanair (on behalf of my daughter).
She's due to fly to Tallinn on Boxing Day with her (ahem) boyfriend - but she just found out he's shit on her with another woman. Tried to change his name on the booking so her sister can go instead, and they want 150 nicker 'admin' fee. Wankers.

Also, her ex boyfriend, who, even though he's a Leicester fan, I though was decent, but also turns out to be an unreconstructed wanker.

Wankers, all.

That's just ridiculous. If they charged £25, they would still be making money. How much effort and time does it take to erase a name and insert another on a computer screen ? Presumably no postage involved ?

Would there be any other areas for them to consider like passport control etc, personally I don't see it but I bet that's what they'd argue? duplication of certain aspects, very time consuming I'm sure?

Annoying definitely but low cost airlines made their money this way with any changes you request. Their pricing structure is such that on a good day you can get return flights to Europe for £30 and 2 days later they can be £200. I suspect their charges for changes are high partly to stop mass purchase at lowest cost only for them to be sold at the inflated cost a week or 2 later. I booked TUI last year to fly from Gatwick to Gambia for £1100 each after being told the plane from Manchester had sold out. 2 weeks later more seats were released on the Manchester flight, I requested a change only to be told I'd lose 85% of monies paid on Gatwick flight. Their all as bad as one another.

Cycle lanes with no cyclists.
I bet there are no surveys of usage they're built because it's the policy no matter how pointless or expensive.

When I lived in Portsmouth they narrowed the roads to put in cycle lanes.

Cyclists then continued to use the roads and it was now impossible to overtake them.

The competitive cyclists mammils etc won’t use cycle lanes as Aunt Gladys might be on the same route and cost him 2 seconds off his strava time - these people are the scourge of the country roads around us

On the Warwick road from Stratford up to the office park at Ryan hill they have built a double cycle path - closed the road for god knows how long BUT they did improve the visibility on the Snitterfield exit (so not all bad ) however they narrowed the road and I have never seen anyone on it - we pay one of the highest council taxes in UK and they just waste our money on a tick box operation

The best part of that being that NFU Mutual have now moved all operations from Ryon Hill to Tiddington - the gates are chained shut! Utter waste of time and money.

Waste of money although of course the smart money is on building houses there and I would rather that than the 10 k homes that they want to build down the B4362 Campden road where there are no jobs and a ghetto already developing at Meon vale as there are no services - just utter bollox
