Yeah we should really build out some kind of high speed capacity upgrade through the spine of the country and make rail travel quicker and more affordable. Nah silly idea.

do we really trust it'll result in lower fares, though?

Generally old infrastructure costs more to maintain and results in more costly downtime. So yeah generally not allowing infrastructure upgrades costs the users of a network. If capacity is low, prices are high, that’s just supply and demand.

I mean can we trust humans to actually pass on the benefits through lower fares. I've seen nothing in my lifetime to suggest that'll happen. Hope I'm wrong.

So my train was cancelled, got told to get on any train. Stood on a roasting hot train with no air con for ages that didn’t leave and nobody had a clue what was going on.

Next thing I know there’s loads of shouting and ‘get on the ground’ and there’s a load of armed coppers dragging someone off the train!

My home insurance company decided they weren't doing home insurance any more, so they must have sold my "policy" to another company who have taken it upon themselves to setup a direct debit for a renewal that's £80 more a year. Get fucked.
