It is time to sort out insurance for the new dog to hopefully cover any ridiculous bills we get from the vet. Hopefully I will be able to insure Max for less than the combined annual price that we pay for 2 cars, 1 motorbike and a house which is what we were quoted for our last dog when she was 14 years old!

My renewal this year was £1,143.37 and if you claim on top of the £125 excess they've added a clause where you have to pay 20% of the cost due to age.

Not sure I'd take out insurance again if I ever got another dog. Only made one major claim when he had an op that cost over £10K and I ended up with a bill for most of that as it was more than double the maximum payout.

We've been lucky and had all of our big bills settled by the insurance, including 1 when we had just switched insurance companies. I don't know if insurance is driving up vet Bill's or vice versa but £1143 is crazy especially if it has a maximum payout. We took our last dog to the vets as she had an abscess under her tooth and the vet quoted over £700 to remove the tooth the next day without giving the antibiotics she'd prescribed chance to reduce the swelling. We refused and the swelling went down & the dog never had a problem again. Car & house insurances cover much larger figures although pet insurance may possibly have a higher percentage of claims.

Put the money in the bank. You are covered for any claims and have a tidy sum if not

Dog insurance is one of those things. It’s likely you will never claim as by the time the age gets to a level the insurance premium will be so high it’s not worth it.

Insure up to the age it becomes excessive which depends on the breed

I didn’t insure once and ended up with a young dog having a major op and had to pay 6 grand

At least it worked

As dogs get older the exclusion list grows but the premiums don't reduce. When the premium for our 14 year old got to that state we just took out basic cover as we knew she probably wouldn't survive an operation. When she was younger we hardly ever claimed for her & considered cancelling her cover and then she did her cruciate and it cost over £6000!! From then on the insurance company did their damnedest to get the cost of the op back with the premiums as it quickly rose from about £130 to £600!!

As a general rule I'd say even if its all English keep the final where it is but in the middle of a pandemic surely you have to consider moving it? UEFA are on about giving both teams a few thousand tickets for fans to travel which seems madness.

Wembley is booked but you could have it at another neutral stadium over here and have a crowd in under similar terms to the cup final.

Shithouse driving. So many c-units on the road late this evening. Is there some sort of amnesty on it at this time that I'm not aware of?

Not knowing whether a tickly cough is the onset of Man Flu or the Rona.

One PCR test later and it turns out it’s Man Flu. Which is now kicking the granny out of me.

In some cases it’s ok but people using go fund me, I have seen one today where they are asking for 15k to have an operation in London because the wait is to long on the nhs. Surely other parts of the country have specialists who wouldn’t be that expensive or take out a loan if you want it done so badly.

I've never used it (don't know if it's still going?) But a few years ago I read some 'free cycle' ads. Now these may have been borne of a non event Sunday and/or someone on a wind up, but some plum had placed a very specific request (full of illiteracy) requesting 'new or nearly new' Timberland boots, YSL/polo shirt and knitwear and a burberry jacket. And to top it off requesting the donor deliver the items to the scrounger.

Reminds me of that woman in cov who bank transferred a stranger a couple of hundred quid for top of the range I phones then went to the telegraph about it.

Her own stupidity then made a go fund me and people funded to buy actual iPhones for her kids.

Heinze tomato sauce squeeze bottle .
Infuriating .
Take the lid off grab the tab to peel off the seal from the bottle ,hard enough for us older types with hand grasp issues.
Only to find another membrane to remove from underneath the first, that Will not peel so you need a knife to cut it away.

Then the lid itself has itself a membrane in the nozzle that only allows outward expulsion of the contents, very clever bit this, has a cross cut across the centre of it,must have wider engineering usage applications or should do,sewage/water management etc .
Anyway far too many membranes for my liking.
