The trains and Coventry station platform queue situation (3 Viewers)

I wasn't there last season for the Checkatrade, but am going on the 28th.

I was reminded on another thread of the chaos last year at Coventry station, but can someone actually detail what happened exactly.

Was it an every man for himself situation? Did some trains sail past even though you had a ticket for that particular train?

What happened for non football types who had booked on a train and needed to be in London at a particular time and what happened if someone had booked first class?

Surely trains can't just sail past if you have a ticket for a set train can they?

How did it all pan out? Would obviously love to avoid any kerfuffle and I do know there are engineering works in the opposite direction - Coventry to Birmingham, so people jumping on there might prove to be problematic too.

Cheers in advance.

There's no trains from Cov on bank holiday Monday. Will need to go from Leamington or Nuneaton
Well I have bought tickets.

Think you may be mistaken. Engineering works in the other direction, but they are running from Cov to London.

I thought there were closures from new street that day?

Another tactic is get a train from somewhere else (ie Somerset), plenty of space all the way through London and a clear journey out at the end... though I appreciate this might not be ideal!
Or you could get on at Birmingham International or New St. :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I missed my designated train from Coventry last year because of long queues. The trainline app was my best friend and I plotted a journey with a couple of changes, a band of fellow supporters followed me. Not sure I'll have the same situation this year with it being bank holiday so I'm just going way in advance for my 11.46 train

Fucking hell Otis. Only you could be worrying about trains less than 24 hours after last nights victory, chill out mate!

My train is at 10.44, so might get there a bit early and am planning to arrive at the station around 7.15am.

Second year running I’ll be at Wembley and not having to worry about travel. Reading this thread makes me realise how lucky I am.

why not go by coach mate?

My wife refused to do the coach this rime. She said the official coaches last time were terrible. Her's didn't have aircon and none of the windows could be opened. Never again she said.

Don't really fancy the coach.

The administrator in me just causes me to be highly organised.

Last year we got train to Brum and London train from there, which proved to be the best decision the main thing is we got seats. Go early it’s a Bank Holiday.

Didn’t know there are rail works north bound so might be a problem getting to New Street by train but there is the 900 bus to New Street takes about an hour, free if you are a pensioner

Yeah, fair point.

I had forgotten about all the commotion last year and of course I wasn't there to see it first hand.

Major rail works on the north west line next weekend . For the first time in a decade I've opted for the coach to London rather than the train .

Doesn't affect Coventry though. I have double checked.

I am going to upgrade to first class and avoid all the pee in a bottle, smash up the lights bunch.

I’d still seriously consider going to Brum, the hundreds waiting impatiently at Cov station won’t recognise first class from a cattle truck to be honest.

But there will be problems from Brum to Cov.

Never travelled first class before. Do you get pole dancers and free Werthers Originals?

It was declassified last year. We’re not bothering with the train this year. Not worth the hassle. Will head down the M1 and will park at Cannons Park, Stanmore, East Finchley or somewhere else easy to get to.

How can they declassify it if you have paid to go first class? They would surely owe you a refund.
