At the risk of asking you to explain something for the millionth time...

As far as I understand it:
  • This is Glick-2, which is a ratings system based on chess ranking algorithm
  • Players/teams are scored between 1000 and 2000 based on performance
  • All players/teams start on a score of 1500
  • Then the algorithm takes into account performance over the season (and form?) to adjust each player/team's score
Is that kinda right?

What stats feed into the ratings system when used for football? Or is it purely results based?

Purely results-based. Elo is cross-referencing the Glicko-2 rating system to give individual ratings.

I have no input. Just the monkey cranking the wheel.

No offence but these ratings really do not work to rate football players or their importance to the team
