"I'm hearing Coventry City's lawyers have failed in an initial application to appeal their latest defeat in the Court of Appeal.
They now have the option of taking their appeal direct to the Supreme Court.
More on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire."

"For those asking...
On this, the direct approach to the Supreme Court is (I'm told) the final point of appeal.
If they fail here that's the end of this particular row.
If they win, we'll have a full judicial review of the sale of the Ricoh Arena to Wasps.
But, of course, the club's lawyers have been clear that they've not ruled out the possibility of civil claims for damages in the future."

I am sure there will be counter claims as well.

Ah well, I’m off to buy the new 3rd kit (delivery I’m told will be in March) just in case the Sisu coffers are running short for the Supreme Court case.

So they lost their appeal to appeal their existing appeal which was an appeal of the existing judgment? And now they can appeal the appeal, not in the appeal court but supreme?

Europe next isn't it? And if that fails they can either start civil proceedings (think the burden of proof is a lot lower there?) or find something else to take legal action about.

How come I’m not surprised. It seems to me that their only motivation in holding onto our club is maintaining a connection for their litigation strategy.
In the meantime MR is working hard to produce success on the pitch, but he must wonder if our owners focus shifted to the playing side, how much better the working environment would be.
In the meantime we could be homeless next year!

I've figured everything out - Joys lawyers are holding a porno tape of Joy from her University days - they've obviously threatened to publish it if she doesn't continue litigation and paying the inflated invoices - cant be anything else as nothing else makes sense!

Will be corrected if wrong, but what they're going to court for is not covered under EU law and therefore can't be tried in the European Courts.

a pretty chunky waiting list if so though.

I think SISU may appeal the Brexit decision if it prevents them escalating things

In the ground situation if I owned Wasps (not a fan of theirs by the way) I would talk straight away to the club themselves not the owners and try to agree a deal which will be a lot higher than last year ( my thoughts) . Let the press Sisu and the F L well aware it is definitely dependant on legals being dropped no if's but's or maybe's this time , because otherwise they will be blamed by all and sundry. If this were to happen I would hope the press and the F A would let it be well known who scuppered the deal . I personally think all the people connected with the club are doing a cracking job shame about our owners.

I may be wrong I think this seasons was negotiated by the club not the owners obviously the owners have the say as to whether or not it goes ahead . If you say there is no way our owners would agree with that clause being put in . That is up to them but if I owned Wasps I certainly would of had enough of their antics I would tell the world whose to blame.

I think genuine fans of other clubs who know the situation do . They hate our owners and are glad it's not their club they own.

The club (or the owners Sisu more than likely) are trying to be clever and get the fans on side which the foolhardy will no doubt fall for.
“We want to talk to the landlords as the Ricoh is where we want to be”
If no talks prevail no doubt the line used will be “well we wanted to talk and threw out an olive branch”.
All this while the next appeal or whatever is the next stage will be continued involving taking the landlords to Court again.:emoji_rolling_eyes:

Don't think SISU want to take the club out of the city again. Any advantage they would gain from that legally they already have from Northampton.

However if the worst comes to the worst it will be difficult for the FL to say no this time.

Chris Anderson was discussing a multi-year deal when Wasps suddenly refused to continue talks. Dave Boddy had a multi-year deal agreed when Wasps pulled out and wouldn't talk any further. Add in the stuff from the council trying to block professional football at the Butts as soon as there was a rumour we might move there and that's more than enough to get them to allow any move.

Go to where ? There is nowhere as far as I can see. As I see it we are fast approaching a serious point in all this “where we play” next season saga. Now I’m not certain but I think the EFL need assurances regarding home venue very soon.

I believe that regardless of the stadium's standard we will get dispensation to play at Nuneaton Borough's ground should SISU pursue it. LIke the Northampton 's owner did, the owner of Borough's ground will help us out too. The possible demise of NB will ease the path.
The League will decide that they (still) don't have the bottle for an argument and that it is close enough to Coventry to ignore any geographical concerns.
Some ground improvements will be offered but anything that is expensive will be delayed through the planning permission process: true to form SISU won't be paying out.

As much as the council have it in for the club surely even they realise its not going to look good on Coventry, as the 2019 European City of Sport, to have the clubs most widely known team kicked out of the city.

The press would have a field day and the city would be ridiculed.

Zero chance of that. It is well below EFL standard and will never get a safety certificate even if improved. Last time I went (Boro vs CCFC a few years ago) you could not find a parking space for love or money and the crowd that day was roughly 1,500. If the Sky Blues have to play at any ground other than the Ricoh will be well out of Coventry.

You've got to think at least 5K would go to Nuneaton, and that's probably a low estimate. Would be absolute chaos. Even if the league agreed to it can't see the police signing off on it.
