The Golden Share... (1 Viewer)

I like how people come on here stating facts they can have no certainty of. Even the FL don't know what is going on at CCFC so any conjecture about who owns what is pie in the sky.

I am sure the administrator will earn his crust unravelling the tangled web.

And everything else was moved over to HOLDINGS just before they placed it into Administration.

I swear I saw somewhere that their is a site that details where everything was at last time of it being declared and everything important (like player contracts etc) was in LTD.

So SISU did a sly one trying to transfer everything over but they screwed up.

Was it a case of the Golden Share can only be transfered from one company to another with FL's say so.

If so SISU should never have tried to pull that stunt and just given into the inevitable.

Now it's going to be ten times worse for them!

Correct me if I'm wrong,
Didn't Ken Bates, try something similar at Leeds, and get his wrist severely slapped by the Foot ball league.

The original league share was issued to CCFC Holdings Ltd (then known as The Coventry City Football Club Ltd), ie it was never with CCFC Ltd. If it is now with CCFC Ltd (which didn't exist before 1995), when did that happen? Perhaps following relegation back into the football league? Nobody seems to know.

I think you have the nub of it there!
The FL approved our entry into the league at some time in the past.
The "share" hasn't been moved but the names of the companies have been changed. It is quite possible the FL are not aware of the name changes of the companies.

I have looked up the records of the name changes and list below
If anyone is confident of when the share was given, we could draw some conclusion.
(the names have no significance, they could be called Ajax trucking for example, but judging by the company number "Holdings" is very much older and perhaps the original)

COVENTRY CITY FOOTBALL CLUB (HOLDINGS) LIMITED (Company No. 00094305)
(Previously till 16/02/1996 COVENTRY CITY FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED(THE)

COVENTRY CITY FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED (Company No. 03056875)
(Previously till 16/02/1996 C C F C LIMITED,
Previously till 30/05/1995 CLUBON LIMITED)

In 1996, while the club was in the Premier League, all the football related contracts and agreements were transferred to CCFC Ltd (company no; 3056875). When the club were relegated to the Football League the FL golden share was issued to CCFC Ltd.

Is there anything to substantiate that? If it was as transparent as you say, surely there would be no doubt about it.
My post (& Ferrets) was not professing to know where it is but was suggesting circumstances and a possible reason (that it is a transaction from long in the past) that could explain why there is so much doubt.

I believe this may be confirmed by the FL shortly. Sorry I can't be more specific but it's best the FL confirm this.

You seem to say this with absolute certainty. How so?

When you say on relegation the share was reissued to CCFC Ltd - was that in name only or was it clearly defined by the company reg number? If it was then there would be no doubt and the GS issue wouldn't be an issue at all.

This confusion arises from somewhere, and we can speculate all we like. Hopefully we will have definite clarification soon and we can move on to new ownership. Would be interested to know what was at the root of this dispute though.

Edit: didn't see the response above.
