The pound might have dropped (which is painful for holidaymakers...although not those holidaying in the Uk, Sickboy !! ). However, I heard on the radio this morning that the UKs EU contributions have gone up 20% (£2.6bn to £15.5bn) over the past 12 months due to our economy outperforming many in the EU.

I googled this but can only see half the story on a Daily telegraph headline so not sure what that means for net contributions. Bizarre (but maybe not surprising) that this isn’t bigger news !

Just saw the article, it says it shot up by 2.6 billion percent, wow!

The funny thing is you seem to think currency devaluation is a bad thing but it’s the one thing that has led to German prosperity in the last 25 years

Yeah it’s great when the country imports a lot more than it exports, isn’t it?

We’ve seen with a lot of the rich Brexiteers that this is what they like so much about Brexit though. It does very little to help the poorest who have to make up for devaluation through paying increased prices on imports.

As you well know as well, the German and UK economies are very different.

Look at your list of what they are and tell me they are the biggest with honesty. You can't if you are being truthful. It is just a grouping.

It was stated what the 10 biggest currencies are. They are not the 10 biggest currencies. They are a group of 10 currencies put together but nobody is sure why they are.

Yes the £ is down. That is what is keeping the UK strong. The € is down. That is what is keeping Germany out of recession. China keeps their currency low to give them an advantage. Yet he makes out that Denmark has one of the biggest currencies in the world. And countries like China don't make his list. But he still tells me I am wrong.

Not many want No Deal, just a deal that can get through parliament and that’s acceptable to the public

I still hope that replacing the backstop with an alternative mechanism (I’ve always said any backstop/trade deal should tie in a significant proportion of the ‘divorce bill’, that way there are incentives on both sides to reach a fair free trade agreement asap) will be sufficient to get the withdrawal agreement through and we can all move on....for at least a short time anyway !!

You are very quick to try to shout down people (me in this case) for asking questions & trying to understand what prompts behaviour. That in itself is oppressive & a threat to freedom of speech...something I am surprised you don't recognise. Or are you only in favour of free speech if it fits with your view of how things ought to be?

Neither, I just try very hard to not accept everything we are fed...& look for reasons what people do stuff. When I am confronted with extreme positions on anything I immediately flip to try to understand the equal & opposite thinking. Like the thing we had the other day about applying labels. It inflames people & situations. Sometimes they deserve it, sometimes they don't.

Just like I despaired at Trump's statement...but he & his methods do sometimes produce positive outcomes. Like he appears to be getting further with N.Korea than anyone before him. Media report more on his generally perceived negatives that his positives. Maybe in reality there are actually more negatives. The land of the free have the chance to get rid of him soon. We shall have to wait & see what they think of him after 4yrs as President.

Why is this so hard for people?

There’s are three deals: Mays deal, No deal, and no Brexit.

There is no magical fourth option that makes everyone happy. Some eggs will need to be broken to make a brexit omelette.

Any politician that tells you otherwise is a charlatan

This is why I back a three way AV referendum. We know the options. Let’s finish this. I’d even accept a three way vote in Parliament but doing it as a series of run offs with no winner was just stupid.
