Absolutely disgraceful organisation by the stewards and police.
Lucky no one got hurt, useless bastards.

What happened?

They didn't have a clue.
Neatly missed the kick off because they kept us on the stairs for whatever reason I don't know. Then about 10 police supplanted themselves in among the support, people manhandling the police and things getting very tetchy.

Then we had stewards trying to make us go to our correct seats which were miles away and occupied, and when we finally got there, we had other stewards trying to stop us getting to them.

While all this was going on there was lots if crushing in gangways.
Last time I'd seen an away end so badly organised was Elland rd

Bloody hell, sounds like the whole day was shit. Hopefully the boys get their first win at Preston to reward the SBA.

Thankfully they are knocking that end down. Great ground but woeful facilities.

Just like QPR, Burnley and many others, it is an accident waiting to happen.

Similar happened last time we played them there.

To be fair, as cramped as QPR is, whenever I've been there it's seemed pretty well managed, they didn't have a clue today

It was awful, really stressful tbh. Always go in my dedicated seat usually, but arrived just after kick off today as coach had broke down. Were not allowed to access the stairs to our seat, so we went down the next and ended up on the gangway with a load of others. Cue an on-going battle for the whole 90 minutes as they tried to clear it, except there was nowhere for people to go. Those that did manage to turf people out of their seat only meant that those they displaced had nowhere to go so stood in the gangways. Rinse and repeat.

It's all becoming a bit of a chore. Think I'm starting to get away day fatigue, just not enjoying them. The wins are keeping me going and I have this sense that I should be there after all the years of shite, would be weird to stop going now, but think I need a break from it. I enjoy home games much more now, which I'd never have said a few years back.

Sounds like your day was similar to mine.
That break down caused a lot of shit as well.

Were you on the SBA or the Craftsman?

SBA. Coach wasn't there after the game, so not sure what happened in the end but luckily managed to jump in the car with someone. Had better away days it's fair to say

The Craftsman coach broke down but coach leasing reallocated coach 3 to them apparently!

Yep, coach 3 not in Sudbury to take us to game and not there after. These things happen I guess. Bit annoying that I had stuff on the coach that I guess now lost. One of those I suppose, nobody's fault really, just a crap day.

They took a load of stuff off 3 and put it in the luggage storage on coach 1 so Coach leasing might still have it, worth giving them a bell.

I think Leasing have some responsibility here, I'm sure the owner drinking in the Craftsman has nothing to do with the decision to commandeer your coach!

I think this was close to where I was also.
All because of a security chap who clearly had an inferiority complex and was barking at our fans. In the end he ended up calling the police to clean up the mess he started.

Yea the stairs were chaotic, we grabbed a little boy who was with his grandad and stood him on a chair wedged between his grandad and me. The kid was frightened.
They managed to get out at half time to find somewhere less crowded.

I wasn’t there yesterday so can’t comment on what happened specifically. However, the stairways at most away games seem to be full. I’ve always put that down to people just not going to their allocated seat. Providing Ipswich didn’t sell more seats than they had in that section of the ground, surely the congestion is down to people not able to stand by their seat as others have just stood where they wanted to?

No, it was down to poor organisation.
After being kettled on the stairs for ten minutes (we missed kick off) we were told to use another set of stairs that didn't lead to our block.

The only free space we could see was a row that had netting on the seats so we, and others stood there.

During the first half we had shown stewards our tickets and were told at HT to go to our seats, we made our way across, a mission in itself, and when we got to our row we had group of stewards trying to turn us away and send us back to where we'd came from

And none of this moving about was easy as everywhere was packed, particularly the aisles. They'd totally lost control.

I was going to ignore this thread presuming it was an over the top pessimistic rant about the result judging by the title and write on the match thread about this

An absolute shitshow that away end was yesterday, I was on one of the back rows and it got really cramped up there for the second half, the stewards were just sending anyone stood in the aisles to the back, I also went to use the toilet after their first goal and couldn’t get downstairs until way after HT

The safe standing is a joke too. The bars they've added make it almost impossible to get in and out. Appreciate I'm a fatty, but even smaller people were struggling. It makes all the rows less accessible.

Could have done with a pee too, but when I heard what was happening down their for others, I stuck it out and waited until FT.

Heard lots of similar tales as those on here although with stewards physically pushing people over and being overly aggressive. I know we have some bellends particularly away and also hammered, but to reassure these were moderate people I heard it from. They're also not employed by Ipswich but by an agency. Hopefully the club will take it up and formally complain, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that.

Ruined the day, result apart, for quite a few I think.

We went there 2 seasons ago when it was freezing - exactly the same happened - fans in the stairwell stewards trying to get people in seats half way through the game - seen a fb where a City group got assaulted by stewards yesterday not good !!

Didn't consider that when posting in anger yesterday.
@Nick is it possible to edit the title in case there are others who may have something to add but don't realise what the actual subject of this thread is?

@Nick done it

Have always disagreed with the overrating of Loftus Rd, Hillsborough and others because of shit like this - that place is a big accident waiting to happen. I’d take a bowl set up over that shit any day.

It's a novelty visiting these places to reminisce on days gone by but ultimately I would not want to watch every home game in a stand like that.

Surely if this away day sit/stand where you like is a thing then things like this will happen no?

if everyone went in their allocated seat then it surely wouldn’t happen - it’s not like they’ve sold more tickets than seats.
If a load more people go in a particular area than the capacity then it will get overcrowded?

or am I being too simplistic?

Don’t know why people can’t just do it tbh.

I always sit in my space but ultimately there are large groups of people who buy their ticket separately and want to sit together.

It's hard to solve the problem when you have a points system and mates on different points.
