That's what " woke" means isn't it ? When people are offended by any views that disagree with their own ?
I'm dying to call someone " woke" in the hope of sounding clever but I'm just not quite sure. I thought this thread would be an ideal place.

This. This is it. They do this is the Scottish Premiership. I don't think racial harmony in the States is going to be achieved by St Mitten and Hamilton Academicals taking the knee. How long are we expected to do this for?

We've played for games now. Every game, to my knowledge we haven't taken the knee (bar the Rangers friendly). Yet, because we are on the telly were expected to? It makes no sense. Why dredge it up? Maybe, people don't want to support the organisation that is BLM?

Here’s the thing:

It’s probably run it’s course. Personally I think that’s for the players and staff to decide and they seem to think it’s worthwhile still.

However:

We do this shit all the Fucking time. Claps for this. Silence for that. Armbands for the other.

Yet when the clapping for every person who ever died got too much it was a few shy posts on here almost apologetically saying they didn’t mean offence but hadn’t we had enough.

The level of vitriol and ranting about “Marxists” and whatever when BLM is the subject kinda makes me think it’s still needed. Clearly it still triggers a lot of people to talk about this stuff.

I actually thought the Sky coverage was interesting to watch. Jobi Mcanuff seemed to be pissed off that both teams didn’t do it. Then after Warburton spoke about there being no clear guidance etc - which I thought was a a kop out tbh - Mcanuff seemed to back right off and agree with him.
I liked it that Robins came right out and just blamed QPR. Although I think that was also a bit disingenuous. City could’ve taken the knee anyway, especially if it was our kick-off! I can’t remember if it was or wasn’t!
Anyway, it didn’t happen so yesterday we weren’t supporting the Anarchist Marxists. Maybe next game we will.
In your face Trotsky! Which I believe may also have been the last words he heard.

Yes look them up. The march that some of the organisation did in London dressed in paramiliitary uniforms shouting black power and raising a fist. Try doing some research instead of believing the media. They don't stand against racism they promote hate, anarchy and anti establishment.

There's prominent 'left wingers' especially in the gaming industry with exactly those views, anita sarkeesian and Neil Druckman immediately spring to mind.

if this is what you want to show soladarity towards then You are in the minority.
the point has been made now move on as it has no place in a civalised society.

there is all ready a anti race campaign in football so why are we being bullied into taking the knee by the media who are just virtual signalling for a person who was a violent criminal and the two autopsy's show died of a massive drug overdose not because a police officer put a knee on him.

What a load of uninformed shit. You've taken the right wing bait hook, line and sinker.

I'm not going to argue with you, or debate this because it won't make any difference. But it is important to call out blatant lies and misinformation when it is spread.

For anyone who didn't already work it out, George Floyd was suffocated. BLM is socialist, not Marxist. Defund the police means take back the extraordinary levels of money they receive in the US and put it into things like community outreach etc that prevent crime, not just arrest people after the event. (Think vaccine, rather than repeated courses of anti-viral drugs).

As for promoting hate towards white people, there have been whote people preaching and carrying out racially motivated attacks on POC for decades and nobody batted an eyelid as long as they stopped doing it in dressed in white sheets in the open. The minute that a tiny tiny proportion of Black Lives Matters protesters (The main one was kicked out of the movement FYI) mention anything to a tenth the level of that, it suddenly devalues the whole movement?

If this was truly what you wanted and you truly were only motivated by equality and no prejudices - I cant imagine any white person could have voted Brexit, Tory, Labour, sympathise with Steven Yaxley-Lennon etc - all of these movements or groups are aligned and supported by white supremacists or have had some level of hate speak associated with them.

Disclaimers on this post:

I won't reply or debate this with you because a football fan site isn't the place. But like I said, I'm tired of scrolling past shit posts, when it takes 2 minutes to highlight the lies.

I used you at the bottom as an example, I couldn't give a shit when you defend yourself by saying I didn't vote for so and so etc. Just because these narrow examples aren't totally applicable, I cant write down every example or group that you'd need to distance from.

It is not virtue signalling to call out lies.

I'm not 'Woke' I just give a shit about people who are institutionally hampered. Be that because of colour, social class or religion.

Try and be a better person.

P.s. to try and drag this back on topic, I think taking the knee should be guided by the POC in the teams and supported by their team mates. If they didn't want to do it, then great.

What I would like to see is more coordinated action by the FA, and failing that CCFC, that goes beyond allowing kneeling.

Not really into gamer gate other than knowing it was a total shit show. The gaming industry is full of shits on both sides of the fence. Palmer Luckey comes to mind on the right.

As I said alt right and woke left are two sides of the same bigoted coin.

I get the impression it still matters to the black players. If that’s the case we should do it as a team. And if that’s the case we should do it as a club. That’s part of the ethos we’ve built here under Robins. Where We Go One We Go All

I don’t know. TBH it’s not my fight. As I said if Dabo, Mason, Baka etc are there saying it matters to them I’d expect the manager and the rest of the squad to back them because that’s the ethos we have. Equally if they all said they couldn’t give a shit I’d be happy to leave it. Robins said it matters to the team, so I’m happy to go along with it. I don’t see a problem with the message that all members of our squad matter, in fact I think it’s very on brand. I’d be very disappointed if fans came back and booed something the players were doing, which is what you seem to be suggesting. But not surprised so I won’t be takin you up on that bet.

I did notice on Match of the Day that from day one they'd always show players taking the knee. As the weeks went by it was actually cropped back from around 20 seconds to about 3-4. At this point I began to think the producers of this programme were just going through the motions and that eventually they'd leave it out completely and see if anyone noticed.

Are Cov and QPR the first teams to drop it ? If they are we'll soon see how much appetite there is for it to continue. One more weekend I shouldn't be surprised. Of course, the premier League might want to push it a bit longer.

For those who think it should continue, just how long should it go on ? Six weeks, a year ?

I think alot of players are doing it, and sportspeople in general... Just to keep the peace and not be vilified.

I mean look at how they tried to create an issue last night, it's almost not worth it, just bend the knee and pretend you care to keep the peace...

just get rid

not the first ones to drop it but I think maybe the first ones in a televised game.
I agree, it's losing its effectiveness as any gesture does when continually repeated. and probably does need winding now.

I get that and as someone else said I don’t like it with Poppies or any other political statement.

I think Robins got it spot on last night, he said he believes in the message and we are happy to do it, but he doesn’t think the EFL should mandate it.

Forget Robins for England, Robins for PM quite frankly

Calling someone a gammon makes me laugh mate. Its a typical left wing snowflake reply to anyone that doesnt agree with your lefty views. Havnt you got a students union meeting to go to. Anyway im off to work so ill leave you and the other leftys on here to think of some more insults to call someone who dares to disagree with you.

I think Jobi McAnuff summed it up trying to whip up some anger.

He then said that in his previous game the ref said it wasn't happening and as captain of Orient his team didn't do it either.

Top Hypocrite. Let's stick with the "Not today or any day" thing that is still plastered everywhere and rightly so. It's not political in anyway.
