Onyeka seems to be more of a talisman because he made the fewest defensive contributions of all the midfielders, barely touched the ball yesterday and had by far the lowest rating of those who started, yet is still getting credit. I would say having a CB who can defend has done more for us tbh.
It’s clear a lot of work has been done on the training ground. Massive credit to FL and the coaches. But as Brighton said, its our shape, its so much better with him in the team.
Ya it's not as simple as onyenka in and now we defend betterIt’s clear a lot of work has been done on the training ground. Massive credit to FL and the coaches.

No. Its more nuanced, but his signing is a major factor.
Grimes was being left hung out to dry on his own.
It's ironic that a lot of the players we paid money are only making the bench and sometimes not even there..Onyeka presence is doing wonders for the team and now teams are focusing on him more than on Grimes. If we get to the promised land, which is becoming more of a reality game by game we have to get used to seeing quality. That is no disrespect to our lads but they need a few calming influences that can take the fluid out of an opponent and can instill authority in our play. FL can do so much but you need brains and it is no coincidence that since Lati came in the defence seems more resilient. Lati is a smart player.

Exactly what a man who said he would be a shite signing would sayOnyeka seems to be more of a talisman because he made the fewest defensive contributions of all the midfielders, barely touched the ball yesterday and had by far the lowest rating of those who started, yet is still getting credit. He's been an outstanding pick up for us. Just what we needed.Exactly what a man who said he would be a shite signing would say
I don't think he's particularly unsung tbf. Everyone thinks hes great.Onyeka is the missing piece to our jigsaw but the unsung hero of the season is Rushworth. Class act. He needs a song

His worse game so far for us .. but last 2 games he was superbOnyeka seems to be more of a talisman because he made the fewest defensive contributions of all the midfielders, barely touched the ball yesterday and had by far the lowest rating of those who started, yet is still getting credit. Oh I didn't hear that. Nice work.We were singing that at West brom!

He played CB as a youth player.Maybe I’m mad, but I’d be intrigued by him playing CB.
For arguments sake, even if we did bottle it (which we won’t), going into the season the consensus was that this team wasn’t a Top 2 team. So the conclusion is Lampard isn’t good tactically is just a ridiculous viewpoint. The point LG was trying to make that Lampard isn't good tactically based on cherry picking of an at worse indifferent period of form which he exaggerated to be worse than it really was. Further to that, in doing so also ignoring that Lampard got the team into record breaking form in the first place.
It’s more tactical to be fair and the switch has happened at Oxford at home with Torp and even tweaks v Leicester (H).No. Its more nuanced, but his signing is a major factor.

The 3-1-6 shape was high risk, high reward strategy that unfortunately exposed us to too much risk. Onyeka and Grimes are playing as a partnership in a more defined 2 CM partnership and they complement each other well.
YepBut we struggled to solve the issues leaving Grimes on his own was causing on the road with the players we already had.
Onyeka arrives, 2 wins in 2.
Onyeka is better than Torp and Grimes imo. He’s a solid Prem squad player so he will improve us and that’s a view I held before we signed him.But we struggled to solve the issues leaving Grimes on his own was causing on the road with the players we already had.

I’m interested to see how things go against a Stoke side who you’d expect to sit in deep and hit on the break in classic MR style. That’s been an Achilles heel for us and we couldn’t break Oxford down doing it the other week.Onyeka is better than Torp and Grimes imo. Grimes wasn’t ‘isolated’ on his own as he would mostly be sat alongside the CBs. Torp would be between the line of 3 and the front 2 pressers (Rudoni and Wright). That was the isolation point and frankly, the tactics and shape needed to be changed because teams could get at us far too easily.
The last 3 games we’ve averaged less than 35-40% possession which is a clear change from QPR, Norwich, Birmingham and Charlton away. As well as bringing Onyeka in, the tactics have also changed and it’s not just down to changing one player.
Sakamoto has also profited greatly from the tactical changes because his off the ball work has always been his best asset.
You'd have to expect giving us being at home it should overwhelm themI’m interested to see how things go against a Stoke side who you’d expect to sit in deep and hit on the break in classic MR style. That’s been an Achilles heel for us and we couldn’t break Oxford down doing it the other week.
I think it’s one where unless we score early we’re in for a long afternoon.Y

Stoke played for a 0-0 against us at their place and in much better form at the time. You are right, they will sit in and hope for the best. An early one would be nice to force them to try and play.I think it’s one where unless we score early we’re in for a long afternoon.
Honestly? I think we’ll beat them comfortably. Their away form is decent but have also lost 7 games and as also, back us to score 2 goals most home games.I’m interested to see how things go against a Stoke side who you’d expect to sit in deep and hit on the break in classic MR style. That’s been an Achilles heel for us and we couldn’t break Oxford down doing it the other week.
