perspective required, we played against a fairly young experienced team today. no real issue with max but entering the fray after an hour is different from starting the game. the work godden put in for an hour or so contributes to the goal max scores. having a squad will potentially get us promoted.

You killjoy funsucking basturrd ...howfuckingdareyou come on here with your fancydancy perrrrrrspective

Lol. 8 goals?

Oh yeah cos play off semi final goals (biggest/most imoortsnt and best match in our recent doesn't count as judged by all supporters).

Oh yeah and fa cup goals don't count. Lol.

I don't dislike max, I'm stating the truth.

Bakayoko has a better league 1 goalscoring record.

I mean I get it and appreciate every effort played... But this is an insane thing to suggest that he's the best free signing ever... when that very season we had mcnulty scoring 28 goals in all competitions...

His 2 play off semi final goals at Notts county have equal weighting to the 8 you mention.

Not really as we would have won 3-2 without them over the 2 legs..

But I'm not arguing that tbh, his league form for us is extremely underwhelming since his arrival.

It's 8 in 59

Kevin Kyle often touted as being absolutely shite scored 5 in 50

Agree he's not one of the best free signings ever. But also lets face it his record in the mins he's played he's had a huge impact. Can't ask for more I'm afraid.

You fail to realise something significant.

He's fucking improving. He's improving his record game by game.

Fact!

His form since coming back is not questionable tbh.. Its always been a city fan thing to prefer the player who tries more over the player with ability... Bad trait to have and one that stems from years of watching shite

If he hadn’t been injured we would have gone up last season.

We didn't go up last season because the team wasn't good enough.
Biamou has scored 3 in his last 19 league 1 games why would you think him being fit would have propelled us to promotion?

I'm not being rude I'm just struggling with the mindset

It's an absurd thing to say in more ways than 1

You'd have been better off saying we could have maybe hit the playoffs if mcnulty stayed and carried on his great form with us

I need to emphasise I love biamous attitude to the cause and he understands his role, I like him but he's a squad player who is used sparingly mostly and there is a reason for that, the manager knows best.

Evo, I hear what you are saying. But Max was the key in the second leg at County in my view - we were under intense pressure at 2-1 for around 25 minutes after half time - Max’s second goal to go 3-1 up was the game changer. One of the most important goals in recent years if not the most important.

He's been I injured fair chunk of season.
Then got sent off banned for 3 games. Then another niggly injury.

In between quite simply brilliant.

His performance first half away at Ipswich was best I seen him and team play all season.

I get it, but he's much like kieth houchen.. You have to ultimately judge the bloke on his league return as that's the clubs bread and butter.
Max will always give 100% with the shirt on his back and I appreciate that as much as the next Coventry fan.. Bakayoko who has a similar league return to max probably slightly better infact on games played has nowhere near the same respect by supporters... Neither are world beaters but come on call a spade a spade.

My initial disbelief was that he's our best free signing ever... Which is hard to understand and deserves to be questioned as its absolute nonsense.

Again apologies I'm not trying to be rude

Robins when given the option seems to opt to start baka over biamou in the league when goddens out.

Do you not think its slightly telling?
Do you not wonder why?

IMO he sees him as an impact player more than anything

Again I must stress I like the bloke, hes part of the squad that's having a great season.

And his contribution today was as expected.

As long as we keep winning or picking up points thats all that matters to me.

And if he scores 10 goals to help that happen from now until May then il be thankful of his part in that too... Even if he scores just 1 il still be thankful... Its the team that matters.

without perspective daft decisions are created as are daft perceptions, at some point we will probably lose a couple of games and perspective will be very important. perspective should not really be required to acknowledge that godden is a far better player than the lovely max.

I think that is actually more sad. Imagine that’s how you spend your free time... purposely winding up your own fans? Weird.

As for Max... he’s a class act.

No he’s not very good he’s Houchen or Rosario - what does a class act mean - Dublin?

He could help fire us absolutely.

But he's scored less league goals than some midfielders in the league and as such it's them that have helped us more up to now
Believe the term to use is a “bit of perspective on this statement”. True only Shipley as a midfielder has scored more goals in the league this season but Shipley is averaging a goal every 420 minutes. Biamou is averaging one every 137 minutes, Baka every 264 and Godden every 180 which includes 3 penalties

Which is fantastic... Which would also go along with the suggestion that he's best used as he is... Off the bench as an impact player.

Or in a 2 up formation.
But we never start in a 2

In our promotion season who was the best striker at the club?

Why do you have to compare him to anyone else? He’s just a good player in our current standing who is having an effective impact on the team? How is that not good enough for you?

Even you must admit the idea that he's our greatest free signing ever is nonsense mate

So when you say class act it meant what?

It's funny how these debates go around.

Earlier this season there was a fairly impassioned debate about how the only important factor in a striker's performance was goals.

Now when one of our strikers has a handy scoring record per minutes played - it's not about goals any more.

Let's just get behind the lads and enjoy the run-in. As I see it all of the players who are featuring every week, both starting and off the bench are making real contributions to our promotion charge. Not sure why there is any debate at this time about our players not being good enough.

For what it's worth, Max has made an amazing adjustment from non League to L2 and now to L1. He certainly doesn't look out of place to me at this level. And if you factor in that very serious injury it's a brilliant feel good story for Max and for us.
