Starting to think wing backs with 2 upfront might be the best way to start tonight?

Has saddle said owt about the lineup

I’m hoping for Simms and Wright to start up front.

EMC (if fit) or BTA off the left.

Saka from the right and Rudi/Grimes through the middle with Rudi given free roam.

Think I'd go:

Wilson
Mve Thomas Kitching
Saka Grimes Sheaf Dasilva
Rudoni
Wright BTA

Bit of a random one, but can easily transition to 4231/433, MvE gives us pace to play a high line while attacking, BTA plays best in a two is my thinking.

The throw we scored from was flatter and faster, we should try more of them rather than the loopy ones you've mentioned
I think that’s an actual skill though. MVE only has 1 out of 20 flat deliveries. I think we also need to stop being so focused on this headed goal thing. FL mentioned it in the press conference and it made us so predictable in the 1st leg. We do also have the quality to play through as well (as when we beat Sunderland 3-0) so should use that more.

Thing is with this is I hate our long throws ins. They are shit and loopy. I think we have one goal from them, so happy for them to be cut off.
I think they are overthinking things ,( A bit like England always use to do , When playing lesser opposition) , Always looking for what could go wrong. Instead of just playing their own game , That had got them where they are Now, Its 1- 0 at half time , Changing pitch layouts is just crazy , Their players will have to adjust As Well,

Urgh flying and plane delayed so will miss most of it. 😡
What an awful time to be in the air. I missed opening day at Stoke for the same reason, was buzzing for the new season, expecting to land and see that we'd won... 1-0 win for Stoke.

Bobby Thomas starting up front instead of BTA, Lati, starting in CB.
I once read a Roy of the Rovers story that had a very similar plot, you never know it might just work.

Re: all this moving the advertising hoardings to stop VE taking long throws...I don't think it'll make much difference to be honest.

Despite being vertically challenged, I had a long throw on me and was often used the same way in matches. Within 10 yds of the 18yd box and I'd get the nod to take the throw. You only need a couple of steps or you can curve your run up.

I'd love it if we get the opportunity in the first 5-10 mins for one and he launches one in and we score from it. Now THAT would would be good.

I actually think it works in our favour. I have never considered them a threat, but the opposition have clearly demonstrated to everyone that they think they are, which will make them more nervous when one comes in.

Simms is terrible, get rid in the summer
Haji is so lazy again
Thomas couldn’t pass water
Lampard has got it all wrong with this formation
F@*k Sheaf, learn to shoot
How the hell did BTA miss that?
Awful performance

Right, got that out of my system, only positive from now on. I feel we can do this tonight, Sunderland proper nervous about the quality we can show. Come on lads, I’m really not bothered about starting lineup, as long as there is 110% commitment!

all we need is a 1-0 win and you want to start MVE, who dropped a clanger in the first leg, as a wide CB when he's never done it before?

trying anything too drastic from the off is a recipe for conceding early and giving ourselves a mountain to climb - if Sunderland do get the 1st goal that's when we should try these things.
