Why would we suddenly become a mid table team?

A decent keeper punches that away, takes responsibility.

Harsh.
The ball was whipped in at speed, so not enough time to come out and punch.
Ballard? had lost his marker, so had a free, but difficult header.

Penalties presumably.

I really like him, but I wonder if it might be time to cash in. Lack of form is ok, you accept that, especially in forwards, but it's the lack of battle when things aren't going his way.

That bit at the end where bta played him I'm and it was 70-30 his favour and he bottled with it with o nien. Unforgivable

Super proud of that performance, Sunderland deserved nothing from that game, but that's football and unfortunately our performance will be forgotten by most people by tomorrow , but we deserved to win and I will take some comfort when Sheffield stuff Sunderland in the final

Credit to Sunderland, they have quality in the right places. Mayenda very good again. I don’t rate Ballard as a “footballer” but he is a good defender. I’ll be surprised if they can beat Sheffield United, but they’re in the lottery now so who knows.

Next season I want us to be a sustained top 6 team for the duration of the season, hopefully with some new forward signings who can effect the game a little more in this system.

Maybe, but if the league put the boots to Leicester as they should and there’s no guarantee Ipswich replace well after they get raided for their best players.
We can make another go of it next year, and looks a better year to try than this season did.

Gut wrenching way again to lose in the play offs but let's reflect on another great year.

We have not played the best football this season but we have done incredibly well to find ways to win games when not playing well. To get up from 17th in November - same points as Luton town to 5th shows heart and desire. This team has shown a lot of that this season. Today, as well as on Friday we were unlucky not to get the win we needed.

C'est la vie. Amazing support from us this year at the Ricoh, let's do it again next season. Have a good summer all.

Looked like it should have been Wrights/Asantes ball, both near post, both get sucked in. Absolute room temperature IQ from the pair of them.

Good season after a dramatic start that should have been up for a BAFTA. Well played tonight, gave it all, Tats a brilliant performance, Wright the worst I’ve seen anyone play especially with what was at stake. Mental Health Awareness Week everyone, so despite the result, take care of yourselves. See you next season.

We watch week in week out our crosses being claimed yet our goalkeepers don’t advance out the 6yd box to catch anything! Puts us under so much pressure! Frustrating

Yes I'm sure he was being kept on for pens.

As for your second point BTA would be more likely to track back with fresher legs so that's why he went wide.

Yeah good point tbf.

It's a sickener to lose late on like that but all in all I'm not too upset.

Sunderland will get pasted playing like that in the final you'd imagine and in all honesty we didn't have a chance either.

People are slating Wright and usually post heartbreak emotions cloud the judgement.

But I can honestly say Wright has been shambolic the last month of this season. He's failed to control every ball, he's lost every ball, he's been slow, lethargic.

How on earth Lampard left him on I don't think I will ever know

ONLY reason he's stayed on is with Penalties in mind

We're not ready yet. Need a full summer and preseason to sort things out. Clear the deadwood, build a solid defence first and then other areas as well.

That's as undeserved a result as you will see.

You can't really fault the effort, but that's an absolute sickener against a team that has offered very little over two legs of football.

Wright's been shocking since he's come back from injury, bar that one game. Awful. When he's off it, he's got no fight at all. You can't really excuse that.
You can’t excuse keeping him on.
Poor subs. If EMC is injured bring on Patterson and play BTA through the middle.
