I don't agree, he saw what we saw and wanted to get 3 in midfield and thought BTA was undroppable so had to find him a place in that front 3. It didn't really work and I'd expect the team that started the second half to start this game.
We've done well without Rudi but it will sure be nice to have him back.
We need a lot more from EMC, we know hes not good at defending, but he is also frustrating at the attacking stuff, there's too little end product to what he does.

His goal at Wrexham was a great strike, but we need more quality from his crossing.

Basically he should have way more assists than he currently has.
He came on and gave us better balance on Tuesday, but that was when we had picked up our game and were bombing forward looking for goals, once we went 2,-1 up he disappeared up his own arse for 20 minutes, that's what frustrates Frank (imho)

Hes a good player, but no Sakamoto.

If he plays today I think Stoke will look to get Sorba Thomas bombing down our left side, so he will have to be on his game otherwise JDS could get exposed.

Edit. Just to clarify, im not saying hes a poor player, im saying hes soooo frustrating.

Posted about it before but their RB (Tchamadeu) had EMC in his pocket last year. He struggles against strong pacey FB’s.

So we definitely need him on his game today.

If I remember that game rightly EMC escaped into the area just before half time and we should have had a pen to go 3-0 and Stoke should have gone down to 10 men.

I think some of the criticism for EMC is a bit harsh. They were shit scared of him the other night and it changed the game. We know his limitations but luckily the opposition find him a handful.

It sounds harsh because we’re asking how to fit four players into three positions and three of them are pretty much undroppable.

Heart says we rip them 0-4, head can’t get past a defeat. Gut says a draw. Left foot says tight 1-2 away win.

I'm interested to see what Frank does because Rudoni walks into this team. EMC is more droppable that Wright or Sakamoto but I think the left is where BTA is least effective. It's a good problem to have rather than just having a load of shite I suppose.

I think you’ll end up with BTA and EMC sharing depending on how their form/the game is going until Jan when we bring another LW in. But that doesn’t solve the BTA vs Haji issue which is the real problem.

424 with Rudoni and Grimes?

532 and sack the wingers off?

Nice problems to have.

There. I fixed it. RIP JDS 😔

I think he plays Haji over BTA, that's just my gut and I'm not saying it's deserved. One of my fave players but periods of ghosting including since the last international break really. I think this is what we wanted though, good rotation options for a long season so yeh good problems for sure.

Dropping BTA as top scorer is ridiculously harsh but I agree, despite it all I still feel Haji is the right choice there with Rudoni behind him. And a hungry BTA is a good motivator to have behind the front four.

Rudoni will not feature. Best way in this one is attack. Robin's we know will set up not to be beat. They are a good defensive unit. Score few goals (the last two games a rare exception, and if you watch the highlights it was shocking defending by the opposition)
I expect a tight game with us trying to break them down. We have to be careful when losing the ball for a quick counter. Torp will need the game of his life today. I sense it could come down to a creamer from Torp. If there is a side in this league to stop us scoring, then its Stoke.
Could we see a 0-0?

Their main reason for conceding so few is the goalie more than anything and for some reason he often has been well below his best vs us. Here's hoping for another stinker.

Think for 1st time ever, I'd be more than happy with a point today.

Very tough game but both sides will be under huge pressure, just hope it's not us who buckle.

rudoni starting, he was back on grass first time thursday. some of you lot make me laugh
Tbf I can see people saying no way Rudi starts but I have no idea who they are talking to as I can't see it suggested anywhere. Pretty sure it's obviously after the international break now.

Mentioned it earlier in the thread, but definitely looking forward to an away day.

Found a craft beer pub which is open near the station so heading there before a more game day pub.

Where are people heading / what are the away pubs today?

Anything on the away fan pubs?

Ended up in a pub with decent beer, but full of home fans.
