Because you said "not comparabe" after failing to read what the post I was replying to actually said.

I was simply clarifying that parameters set out by BSB.
 
You have all been talking about getting a LB and LCB for months and months now yet the first two goals at Arsenal were both down to rookie errors by MVE. The left side against Saka looked the better of the two (not that either was exceptional due to Arsenal being so able to control the game from midfield) and JDS had one of the better games with strong attacking runs and fairly solid defense with Amenda behind him.
 
My point is, from the Arsenal evidence, that it may be the right of the defense where we should be concerned and bringing in Mfuni who is predominantly a left sided defender turns out to be a lesser concern.

I don't know about January. Guessing there is about £5-10 million left at this point for transfers to stay at or under the 85% SCR. Without outgoings of some value, thinking Simms or Torp, or King deciding to exceed the threshold, there may not be funds to upgrade in that tougher window.

Feels like this move confirms the tight budget as it stands. The left side of the defense needs something more substantial. Would have more trepidation than excitement seeing Mfuni or Kitching in a 3 next to Amenda and Thomas.

Take a look at Sunderland's business. Splashed all that cash last year and 1 move this window. Even with increased revenue, they appear to be at the SCR limits (granted the limit reduces to 70 or 75% SCR with Europe).

Would be happy to take him. He will end up playing for England one day. He’s a very exciting young player. Has pace, very good passer and reads the game well. Left footed.

I do however think we need to ensure we bring an experienced top flight CB in especially one who’s had PL experience.

Our CBs mix isn’t right at the moment.

But yeah typically 17/18 year olds are in more attacking positions and not defence.

Cubarsi at Spain, WC winner, several other young Spanish players, Rooney, and years ago Trevor Francis. Just saying it’s not unheard of for a small number of teenage players to develop very quickly and to be able to hold their own at the highest levels of the game.

I don’t think people are upset about signing him per se. I think it’s in the context of seeking experience in our remaining positions and this being the exact opposite. Without that context it’s a very exciting signing.
 
Signing him isnt an issue, the common thought is because its a loan and he’s an unproven quality having 9 professional appearances, if we signed him permanently to be a squad member its good depth, especially because we then wouldnt have to register him and we could sign an experienced CB to complement what we have got. Everyone would welcome him in just the concept of the signing seems to be the issue

Exactly this. Would have no issues if it wasn’t a loan.
 
I really think he’s been signed as a LB not a CB
 
The experience part is meaningless - look at what Andy Robertson achieved today at Spurs … he is left back as well

The difference is we have a squad that lacks much if any top flight experience, that tottenham squad has plenty, and is a bit of a shitshow at the moment they almost need to get relegated to reset
 
Hi all,

I trust the opinion of professionals who have considerably more knowledge of football than all of us on here combined.

I like signing young and exciting players that will hopefully make our team better!

I also get to watch my favourite football team play in the Premier League!

Please stop fighting :)

No but if he was ours the potential resale would be huge, we’d be developing our own player, and we wouldn’t have to throw him in if he wasn’t ready which Im assuming he’d have a clause of minimum appearances and minute percentage. We’d be able to take our time developing him, you’d rather own your assets than grow someone else’s

We don’t have to register him anyway as a loan

You loan players because you can access quality you can’t afford otherwise.
 
He may be an excellent signing as depth or for the future if it is more than a loan.

Expecting him to be a 1 of 100 type based on his age & profile and change the likelihood of staying up is unrealistic. I was certainly hoping for something that would move the needle in terms of the team's prospects. As a loan, this doesn't change the present or the future unless he is the next Rio, Micah, etc.
