You missed 'A constant drain on the public budget'.

The last figure being touted around was £12bn per annum.

It's odd really, I feel exactly the same about you and some others on here in terms of the parties further to the right.

People have a right to hold a view which is entirely different to yours without it being put down by brain washed reflex.

TBF I haven’t come out with contradictory statements, only one organisation to blame for this, whatever spectacles one might want to wear.
Yeah, but you've only been posting about govt pretty much since Labour won the election, and are complaining about their record on an almost daily basis, a lot of which is vastly skewed or pretty much exactly the same as under the Tory govt which, surprise surprise, you didn't say a peep about at the time.

Meanwhile I'm often critical of Labour, and other left leaning parties, and said before Labour won it would be disappointing if they won and carried out a manifesto that was effectively a moderate tory one. It was very much a case of hold my nose and put up with it because it was better than the shitfest that was the Tories and realistically they were the only other option. Ordinarily I wouldn't have voted for a Labour with those set of values.

I've even been known, on rare occasions, to support Tory policy where it seems a good idea. Trouble is it doesn't happen often because the basic tenets of conservatism focus on inequality, greed and forcing people to be at odds with other.

I'm not saying you can't hold a view different to mine - you're perfectly entitled to do so - but don't go around talking about other people basing their ideas on which party said what because you've only started moaning since Labour came in despite most of what they're doing being no different to what was going on under the Tories. That's the very definition of having an opinion based on the party.

That makes it all right then.

Where's that £12bn figure from?

I’m sure it was a lot more than that, not that £12b is an insignificant sum. Hansard 7 May 2024. Illegal:Immigration Costs debate refers to reports stating that providing support to a UK citizen costed the Government £12,000 per person, This suggests that an unauthorised immigrant population of 1.2 million would be costing £14.4 million That is not the extent of it though. Housing these unauthorised persons is also a significant sum and must be pretty annoying for those of you struggling to acquire adequate accommodation.

I have a note on the clocks. Most of them are either telling the wrong time or not working, so there will be no timing of the length of speeches.
Good start :ROFLMAO:

She’s a sandwich short that one. She claims illegal immigration is a huge problem then goes on to list a whole bunch of people here legally.

Isn’t Labour sticking to Tory principles a reasonable basis on which to moan? For anyone of any fundamental political persuasion?

This £12b figure seems to have come from GBeebies:

Which seems to have got that from here:

Which absolutely does not state that unauthorised migrants cost the UK 12bn a year, as Captain Dart said.

Indeed it is.

I just want to know why you weren't giving the Tories the same amount of stick for 14 years previous if it's the same stuff and you're complaining now.

What's the differing variable between those periods...?

I don’t but if I got benefits wouldn’t that count in these stats cos I live with a dirty foreigner? It’s “households with at least one foreign national”. Nigel Farage is included in that FFS.

What a completely meaningless stat.

Exactly. It's a load of shite and GBN have run with it and now it's gospel.

Maybe that wasn't the article or figure that Captain Dart was referring to, in which case I apologise, but given he's unwilling or unable to provide a source I'm guessing it probably is.

By definition I assume someone entering the country illegally has not been granted status on arrival?

Grendel

No that seems to take 6 months plus.

So someone who enters illegally and does not reveal themselves as such has 6 months to do so?

I’ve given you a potential Hansard source FFS
