Stadium update (55 Viewers)

In the short term I suspect a lot of the work will be to tidy the place up. Despite the work Frasers did there's still plenty of the ground that looks a fucking mess. It needs a good clean and a lick of paint.

The cladding needs the whole lot doing like they did that one section.

In terms of developing the ground itself I suspect there's a limit to what can be done. We can look at moving the camera's to the other side, especially if no solution can be found to not being able to sell all the seats in the balcony.

I would look to make the gate from car park C to Jimmy Hill Way a proper junction, that wouldn't take much work. You could then close the road behind the east stand, which is closed on matchdays anyway - just leave it for emergency access. You can then extend the concourse out to where the edge of the road currently is. Create much needed room inside.

Put a massive bridge over the railway to eliminate the need for the shitty underpass and replace the steep, and dangerous when busy, steps on the north west side of the stadium with a gentle slop (think like Wembley Stadium). Would be safer and probably help get people away quicker.

Also put some staff in the car parks post game to properly direct people out rather than the current free for all. Do that as well as getting the lights changed so that you can prioritise people leaving the ground for that short space of time and you'd get people away far quicker once the road is reopened.
Changing the lights so there’s a clear 10 mins for everyone to pour out of car park C would solve so many problem.

Clapham Junction is exactly that though a junction. Where a number of lines come into the station and diverge. It's not one line.
The West Coast Maine Line is the busiest mixed-traffic system in Europe, not the busiest line overall (by passengers, this is the Elizabeth Line). But only a portion of traffic on the WCML goes through Coventry (the Rugby - Stafford portion carries a lot), so the WCML through Coventry is definitely not the busiest line in Europe.

It is busy though, so the challenges of integrating shuttles from the Arena are real. There are solutions, but they are expensive and aren't a priority.

Don’t know whether Rowley’s Green WMC redevelopment is going ahead but that and surrounding land could theoretically be levelled and used as car parking. You could create an exit straight onto the A444 far enough up where traffic could get going pretty much straight away, whilst still keeping the roundabout closed.
It's already being used for car parking on match days at the minute.

It's going to be a drive through I think

I think the planning permission was re-approved after Frasers take over.
Are you thinking of the one just to the north of the ground? That was turned down as the council made some bonkers claim that the area couldn't cope with traffic or there wasn't demand for a hotel or something equally dumb considering at the same time they were bending over backwards to help Wasps hotel plans.

That one got resubmitted and approved I think but not been much sign of any activity.

Wasn't that always meant to be temporary as a proof of concept?
Nah, but it did end up just being a showcase. The original plans and plan was for car park C to be a full drone airport for taxis and drone deliveries.
Got quite far with hyundai getting the contract to build it.
But for whatever reason it got scaled back to a showcase of VTOL craft

There was one for carpark C, and one for a hotel with a McDonald's on the site of a scrap yard. Apparently Dhillons now want that last site.

Surely if we want to continue to increase the concert/ exhibition numbers then Car Park C needs to stay as a car park?
There was mention in the Telegraph a while ago that the lack of hotel rooms has seen the exhibition hall lots of to other venues. The onsite hotel isn't that big, and can't be booked when there are matches or concerts.

I suppose it needs both hotels and parking- always surprised a Premier Inn hasn’t sprung up in that area- not only for the CBS but it’s also so close too the M6- there is all that land opposite the Novotel too.

Cov play at their spiritual home and has have already been said have plans to redevelop to reflect their ambitions to be a Premiership rugby club.
I can see no benefit for either club to be both playing at the CBS.

Urr Coundon Road was their spiritual home.

The green stadium credentials have made a lot more difficult for new visitors to come to the stadium for whatever event - the fact that football parking was more expensive than other events annoyed me big time

The island is a car free highway, it would compromise safety. People park there knowing that they are going to be held up. Just like any football car parks near stadiums/ arenas.

I wouldn't dispute it's what most think of as the club's first home, but actually they were at the Butts well before that.

Anyway, I don't think the rugby club desperately need to move to the CBS, The Butts is a good fit and there are big plans afoot for redevelopment. Maybe if they make it into Europe one day, it would be good to have a match at the CBS - Coventry v Munster or something like that would get a decent attendance...

Would like to rename The Anecdote to something more fitting to CCFC... George and John's? CCFC memorabilia on show, let Dhillons run it basically make it the same as the Sky Blue Tavern
Definitely.

The whole place should leave no newcomer or visitor in any doubt that it's CCFCs home.
