It wouldn't have been able to be built on without being decontaminated first, Including any undeveloped land in the immediate vicinity

Isn't that where the waterworks is? Yeah you might get a few houses on but from memory there's not much room.

Would LOVE the club to build a proper, modern training / youth academy on that land (assuming the club now owns it)…

Can Doug build a speedway track there or can he purchase the one in Brandon? We miss our speedway, UP THE BEES

Wouldn't be big enough for that.

Certainly big enough for a new build apartment block, fan zone, offices whatever.

Going to be fascinating to see how the club develops from here.

They've gone from:

Revenue streams <<< Match-Day Tickets

TO (correct me if I'm wrong)....

Revenue streams <<< Match-Day Tickets, Hotel, Rent paid by Casino company, Car parking (?), Catering, Stadium name sponsorship, Exhibition Conference events, Pop concerts.

There was talk of spare land earlier, I wonder if the club will build some flats there? For renters, location-wise it wouldn't be too bad, train-station and M6 J3 nearby. Tescos and other shops nearby.

Really? I think with smart configuration, it could work; just did the measurements at the widest point(s) and it’s not that much different to Sky Blue Lodge…

If we were to build a new training ground, it would be 3x the size of the lodge really.

Ideally, yes - but, given we don’t even own the lodge, even a like-for-like in terms of size would be a better long term option, surely?

Bet everyone pining for a shitty 10k stadium on the outskirts of the city/Warwickshire are absolutely devastated.

How fucking thick do you lot look now

Yesterday was genuinely one of the best days of my life.

How much would it cost us to build our own stadium with casino hotel exhibition hall with 11,000 capacity and 3 car parks today ??

£113m in 2004 is roughly £204m today based on CPI, but probably greater still given increase in materials costs especially. I reckon more like £300m

I think we will be back in the Premier League in the next season, two at a push. Everything is aligning, and we are currently slaying teams.

If Doug wants to sell after that, I won't blame him at all. He deserves it, and he's left us in a much better position.

I really hope we don't sell the club to an apparently rich joker. See Blackburn, Hull and Sheff Wed etc.
Think King may want promotion and to sell us at a large profit.
We are suddenly a very attractive proposition. Perhaps Wolverine or Iron Man will be interested?

Has anyone ever confirmed the rumours about the land being contaminated?

For a city growing in population and building on brown/green belt land, it seems bonkers that so much land around the ground hasn't been built on.

Birmingham will allow developers to come in and build a shit ton of new build apartments.

I know the train line is rubbish on match days, but it provides a 5 minute train into the city centre. It's an area people could commute from.

You build residential and you'll gain other benefits such as new eateries, bars and shops. Just look at other stadia in this country which has done the same.
I suppose it depends on traffic problems if you were to build a lot of housing on or near the site. Is there room anywhere to build a new road to take traffic away from the arena on a match day?

And who would want to spend much on a home with all the restrictions that would come with it other than those wanting to walk out their front door and into the game?

Surely it is better to develop a brownfield site like this and not build over greenbelt? So much greenbelt is being swallowed up around Exhall and Kersley.

Regardless, this land will probably end up a car park and some is earmarked for a VLR terminus (should that happen). Plus, if the Cov-Leicester rail link goes ahead, won't it pass here? Will need a major upgrade and electrification so will limit development options for a while.

Future development will likely be on the other side of Judds Lane anyway. The scrapyard is being touted for sale by the council (would be surprised if we don't buy that), there is a hotel already with planning permission and there are also plans for housing.

Wasn’t there rumours dhillions wanted to buy the recycling plant for a bigger site and fan zone?

Hoping to see a lot of the brown field developed to be honest. What happened to the hotel and McDonald’s plan?

Dhillons purchase may have fallen through, I reckon we buy this now. Hotel has full planning permission, but don't know if/when it starts. On the old social club site, recent revised planning app went in, so that will be a drive through takeaway in the near future.

Would be a good site for a big fan zone although now we own the arena maybe they’ll just use the exhibition hall and move all the food options in there.

Good to hear about the old social club site.
