Lati my man of the match.

A few iffy touches early on and that’s what we expect, but really brave and got his head on loads. Loads of clearances. Old skool.

Rushworth commanding and a couple of decent saves, Grimes got through lots of work, Brau looked promising, Wolfie good and calm, EMC scares defenders.

Well they gave Southampton very little in the first half as well. Not that it is relevant at all to the ratings thread based on the actual rather than hypothetical match that took place.

"Really difficult to score. Wolf and Lati did really well in the second half. But it sometimes easier when you only have to concentrate defending the 6 yard box. I'm not sure they would have scored so highly has it remained 11v11 and the game more open."

Re the above we will never know. But what we do know is Lati and Wolfenden were really solid in both halves. They also did it for a 100 minutes. You couldn't ask for more from them today..
Don't see the issue with my comments, I gave them both high scores. They played well in the match, which is what I've scored them on.

My point probably not articulated well is that we play with a really high line, and neither is blessed with pace, being so deep helped them.

Thought Dasilva was good until his red. Had a comment in draft that I never posted praising him for the way he aggressively presses his man when the balls coming into their feet - he’s won a few of them this year but unfortunately got that one wrong

Hoping Brau can step up because it’s so important we have confident ball players
Agree, I just felt it was such a big error of judgment and it turned the game completely.

Agreed really liked what I saw from him on the ball, decent in the air. His positional sense is why I imagine he has been left out so far.
There was one point where he was one v two, they were in if they got past and he made absolutely the right move to send them inside instead. Definitely some work been going on with him on that front.

100% he is very good on the ball but needs to bulk up a bit and get the positional side of his game right. He may get a few games now so we will see more.

But they weren't defending deep in the first half. Also Kitching isn't blessed with pace either.

Rushworth, lati and wolf kept us in it.
Wright and rudoni poor.
Rudoni was woeful second half, looked like he had the flu bug as well.

Wright couldnt trap a bag of cement on today's showing.

Lats m.o.m closely followed by Rushworth and Woolfy.

Rushworth 8 MOTM Big save after big save

MVE 7 Looked like our biggest threat going forward in the first half
Latibeaudiere 7
Woolfenden 7
Dasilva 6 Played really well in the first half, didn’t see the red card but looked like a stupid challenge

Grimes 7
Torp 7 Wonderful assist, surprised he came off
Eccles 6

Rudoni 6 Floated around in a way that hindered us going forward, it’s ok when he’s playing as a 10 but not so much as a Tats replacement
Wright 7 Held the ball up very well
EMC 7

Bidwell 7
Brau 7 Maybe there’s something here after all but not sure how he’d do at LB
Allen 6
KKH 6
Simms 6

You do realise we had a man less and couldn’t get forward in the same way ?

Hoping Rudoni is still catching up, lost the ball a lot since he’s been back. Wright was poor, Torp looked very rusty but he’s clearly ill. Wonder how many who played today are ill.

Rudoni gave away the ball which gifted Southampton a chance in the first half. If it wasnt for my MoM Rushworth, they would have scored first. Everyone dug in well after the sending off. Wright looks for penalties too often these days.

Dasilva was much better than MVE apart from the sending off. Because we had to defend it showed up that it is not MVE strongest point. Lati deserves an 8 too. I thought Rudoni was no worse than Torp.

Subs all did well especially Brau and KHH.. We kept our shape well second half and Southampton ran out of ideas

MVE was up against one of the most difficult opponents he’ll face this season in Scienza and he was apparently playing through illness, looked like he was blowing towards the end but he did ok I thought…

in a weird way, a result like that could do more for team spirit than a win

Disagree, MVE had a glorious chance in the opening few minutes but hesitated and went for a pass instead.

Think Rudoni has been off it since start of season if I'm honest. If u look back to Oxford away before he got injured he gave the ball away a lot trying silly flicks and tricks. He is a quality player and always works his arse off but I think hes just trying to do too much at times instead of keeping things simple. Today was probably one of his worse games for us but with a bug going around u never know what players have been dealing with this week which is a worry moving on to Swansea/Ipswich

I think Mason-clark had a load of vapo-rub on his shirt too, I suspect a lot of them arent 100%.
Check Alex Craig on YouTube. MVE really in trouble after EMC goal, it’s a wonder he did so well.
I’ve been really unwell this week but had to work. I have a desk job, no physical strain, so really could not imagine what some of our lads went through today. Bloody brilliant!!

Why does Wright get so much stick? He was decent today and should have had a pen first half. Was always going to be a thankless task second half.
Watching replays I don’t think it was a pen. He was already on his way down when the defender “fell” on his leg. Their yellow a few minutes later looked like a wrong decision based on the replay.

Remember how at the start of the season we had to get rid of Wilson, JDS, Bidders, Eccles, Lati, Allan and Simms because they were simply not good enough. Wilson is the only one with no game time. You always need a squad.
I don't get carried away, because they have to do it week in week out, but most of them have had a lot of minutes in the past. JDS, despite his terrible tackle today, is our first choice left back because he has been brilliant all season..

Think Brau was great when he came on but, you really cannot judge a player on a short sub appearance for a full start.
Our coaches will know if he is ready.

Im talking about the number of times he gave the ball away, and how he continually failed to make the most of good work by Brau.
Also he looked very "leggy" even at the start of the second half. There were a number of times when we lost possession and he looked like he was running through treacle to get back into position.

That is most unlike Rudoni, who i rate as one of the best players in the league. Which makes me think he could be struggling with the bug that's going round the squad. He definitely wasn't anywhere near 100% fit today.
