Looking forward to this. Not been to St Mary's before, only the Dell, which was a dreadful ground. Think we could sneak it but probably won't. I'd like a 2-1 win, but this could easily turn into a heavy defeat.

It's perfectly sensible to allow out fullbacks to get forward and only leave 2 at the back against Adam Armstrong.

Just had a look at the table and they're 10 points clear of relegation so are pretty safe.

Can see them going full strength. 2-0 loss

Ralph Hasenhüttl with some nice comments about us...PUSB

Snippet;

What do you make of Coventry City and Mark Robins, who has done a great job to move them up through the leagues?

Yeah, lots of respect for him. They're a team with a clear plan. I like how they play, how they press, how they defend. This is a tough challenge for us and we have to be sharp, they are tough.

Any sensible manager says things like this about their opponents. Last thing you want to do is give them an added incentive to beat you.

O Southampton on high, thank you, for these kind words. For such gracious praise, we will truly be eternally grateful.

"They're a championship club and we're going to show them how utterly shite they are by fielding our strongest team and then putting half a dozen past them , possibly by half time. Then we'll go down the pub and get hammered , come back and stuff another couple past them in the second half. I couldn't give a shit about them They're crap." "

That, and if I remember correctly, Steve Hodge pushing the wall out of the way at a free kick - they're the only memories I really have of that game. Pretty sure Pearce just booted Gallacher in the small of the back right on the sideline.

I was at that game and thought it was a league game. He jumped into Gallachers back and kneed him right on the bottom of the spine. It was pretty brutal. Gallacher shit himself and hid for the remainder of the game

Nine of this weekend's 16 FA Cup fourth round ties will have a VAR.
The cut-off is clear. It is in operation at Premier League grounds only.

Effectively, only Premier League clubs have licenses due to the infrastructure, workforce and costs that are involved.
The match cost is £9,250, which is shared equally by the competing clubs from the gate receipts.

didn't know we would be paying half's, lucky it is a sell out...PUSB

Tip Reasoning
  • Both teams have scored in Southampton’s last five home games.
  • Both teams have scored in three of the last four Coventry City away games.
  • Southampton have not lost any of their last six home FA Cup ties over 90 mins (Won 4, Drawn 2).
Sky Blues can score at St Mary’s stronghold
Southampton are short with the oddsmakers to get past Coventry in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round clash, but there will be some awkward moments before the Saints go marching in.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have lost only once at home in the Premier League this season and are unbeaten in their last eight at St Mary’s, but rarely keep clean sheets on their own patch any more. The three they have managed this season came early on and Saints have allowed their opponents to score in all five of their home games since the start of December.
Coventry have the firepower – if Gyokeres plays
This suggests Saturday’s tie has strong possibilities of being a ‘both teams to score’ affair. The Sky Blues were shut out for the first time this year when they went down 1-0 at Middlesbrough last week, although they were doing plenty of pressing for the opener themselves when Boro’s substitutions paid off.
Mark Robins’ men set up well away from home – as their record of two wins, three draws and only one defeat in their last six Championship aways suggests. Coventry have seen both teams score in three of the last four away games and – as long as they don’t rest leading striker Viktor Gyokeres on the south coast – should oblige again in this respect.
St Mary’s, where both teams have scored in the last five games, has become a real stronghold for Southampton in FA Cup ties with the hosts unbeaten in 90 minutes in their last six there. That’s a big part of our correct score play reasoning that Hasenhuttl’s men make it into the fifth round draw after a 2-1 success this Saturday.

I think if VAR is used many will get to see how absolutely shite it is.

Fine for the armchair fans with commentators going through the details for 5 minutes but in the stadium you just have to stand there waiting while nobody tells you what is going on or why.

It's a properly shite system.

Just like all things it eventually balances out. I'd rather it balance out with incorrect decisions both ways than balance out by taking the passion out of football by forcing people to wait to celebrate a goal.
