This this feels like the most exciting pre-season for years. May come to nothing, but Robins is being allowed to build a squad, earlier than usual. Really feels like he intends to go for it even if we are in exile. The man deserves our support.

Very happy with the business*

* with a caveat of having been excited at the prospect of signing unknown Dutch/french players and then quickly realising they are bobbins. (Cairo, Edje, Malaga, Slager to name a few)

I can relate to the slight apprehension given that we know very little about them. Overall i'm happy that we seem to be bringing in players at League 1 level and are clearly working to a plan. This is not the chaotic approach of picking through the leftovers in mid-July/early August.

That meeting with Joy would have been about keeping Robins in place. He was told then he was going to be backed and he has been. She probably told him they were doing all they could to stay at the ricoh but wither way he'd be backed. If he didn't get significant backing then he probably would be looking at alternative employment.

No one can judge if these players are any good or not - time will tell

Remember the excitement when we signed Meyler who was garbage

A like just for using the word "bobbins".

Yup. The foreign players don't have a stellar track record to date, and we don't know how they'll adapt.

Obviously we hope well... but we don't know.

Yup. Fine to get excited at the prospect, but the reality could be something different entirely.

I don't think I have ever known all signings to work out, so we should be prepared for some failings here too.

JPT area final VS Crewe (possibly) says different. I liked him just because of his name and even knowing he was shit was going to pick up a reduced shirt with 'any name for a fiver' but the shop clearly lied and said that had no 'e's left

Lets not get too carried away in terms of numbers Robins has only replaced those who have left.

Fair comment BUT I Robins is bringing numbers in early that seem to be his choice rather than a late scrape of the leftovers at the end of the window.

The difference is; we’re signing players to decent length contracts, not one year deals. We’re also not filling the team with loanees. It shows intent and good business sense. IF they’re successful we are in a position to command a fee for them.

If they're not, they're David Bell.

Am happy with the principle, but I'd argue that's a football club acting as a football club should, rather than there being anything in the way of exceptional 'backing' from the owners.

Not convinced the owners deserve particular praise for a football club being able to field a football team!

Despite being evicted from their rightful home and “swarms” of supporters deserting them. As well as the suggestions made by many that the move to St. Andrews would hamper recruitment.

I am still waiting to see the situation on the first game of the season and the squad we have then.

Look forward to seeing the new players in the friendlies as well but there's a lot that remains to be seen because anybody starts offering out handjobs willy nilly.

Don’t get me wrong I’m enthused about our recruitments so far they seem the right type young, big and pacy and will hopefully fit into our pattern of play, but at the same time I was just as enthused with last years acquisition of Ogogo in particular which for whatever reason just didn’t come off. So I wait with eager anticipation, and imo we still need a striker.

Will need a while too. Isaias and Telfer looked like superstars first couple of games!

Fuckaduck. There’s no pleasing some people.

I’m not shaking coconuts from my veiny palm tree about who we’re signing. It’s just good to see, that despite everything, ownership are backing Robins. It’s now down to him to get them (and whoever else comes in) ready.

It's exciting only in terms of early signings. Most players are unheard off.
None of this is exciting for the 5,000 season ticket holders who won't renew, before it's suggested Joy is the ccfc saviour.

So much for all the people saying Robins won't be able to sign anybody because of playing at St.Andrews.

That’s their choice. At least Joy is backing the club, unlike our local council.

Robins did recently say that SISU would fund the shortfall in the agreed budget, if City ended up not playing at the Ricoh.

Is it backing Robins or keeping the promise of maintaining the budget? I'm sure MR will argue that if the budget is maintained he can push the Club toward the Championship, which is a new level in revenues that would entice SISU to plug the gap.

Enough. More than people who go to away games only, funding our competitors.
