Sky Blue song (1 Viewer)

Is it time to revert to the original words of the Sky Blue song - 'Proud Posh or Cobblers' rather than the spurious 'Tottenham or Chelsea' (or whatever) as both Peterborough and Northampton are in the league we aspire to?

Awful post, read several threads and comments like this since we were relegated from the Premier League and each time it’s always agreed it’s a tinpot idea.

In fact, to add a little bit of fun we could go the opposite way.

'Let's all sing together, play up Sky Blues,
While we sing together we will never lose
Real or Barca, Bayern or anyone one,
They shan't defeat us, we'll fight til the game is won.'

WHY DON’T YOU RIP OUT THE CLUB’S SOUL WHILE YOU’RE AT IT?!

Nahhh I’m being dramatic but let’s keep it. Keeps those that think we’re still a big club happy and let’s those that hope we will be again dream of better times

Much prefer this

'Let's all sing together, play up Sky Blues,
While we sing together we will never lose
While we've got McNulty, Biamou and everyone
They shan't defeat us, we're buzzing out of our tree!

'Let's all sing together, let's make a din,
While we have Kyel Reid we will never win,
Bye bye to Sicknote, his daddy and his phone,
He was deceitful and mum did nowt else but moan.'

We didn't sing those words when we were in the same league......................... but I happen to think its a bloody awful song, a relic from when Jimmy Hill rebranded the club.

Fair chance we will get to sing that song in the next round of the fa cup.

And for those who've been around a while

We are supporters of the Sky Blues
Jimmy Hill he is our king
George Hudson's our goalscorer
And Willy Humphries is our wizard on the wing
John Sillett is our full back
Kenny Hale's at inside right
Together we're united
We are the boys in blue and white

Glad I got that off my chest

To which tune?

Unfortunately I don't know. It's a popular marching tune which I can whistle, hum or even sing. But that's not a lot of help is it? Anyone else know?
Go on then whistle it. Make sure you leave a window open and tell me whether you are facing north, south, east or west.

For me its keep it as it is

I think we need something that points to ambition rather than mediocrity (we have had far too much of that), in any case we might get Tottenham or Chelsea in the cup ;)

If we want something that points to ambition I think we need to go for my Barca/Bayern little ditty.

Pretty sure you have one dot too many there, Gosb.

I can see why the OP has asked the question as I have thought that myself at times. 'They shan't defeat us...' Well, they did. Regularly.

I don't think it's a stupid suggestion but as others have pointed out, maybe better to be aspirational than confirmation of our level.

You could whistle it into one of those apps that Identify songs.

I think you are right with name that tune, Blaze Away. The version of this I remember featured Bobby Gould with Ronnie Rees as the wizard on the wing. Willie and George were just before my time!

Just googled that tune .
Three differing versions, Andre Ruo,a Dueling Banjos effort and the winner by a Colliery Brass Band.
Left me thinking of one of those brilliant Two Ronnies Musical dialogues .

I think the Two Ronnies actually did a parody of the tune
