Why should we care if they folded, it wasn't our problem.

But the use of the Ricoh as a council owned asset was our problem. As were the jobs of people in Coventry that were at stake. SISU put them under threat.

How dense or dishonest do you have to be to miss this?

Why not stick to writing into the Telegraph about potholes like the rest of your kind, leave the adults to talk.

You seem to have changed your argument, before it was the Council said it wasn't for sale, now your argument is that they didn't say it was for sale.

Rather than you try to interpret my argument, which seems to be confusing you, let's cut to the chase here:

You said "They (SISU) were aware it was for sale.".

You've provided no evidence of that.

I've given you direct quotes that say that the Council thought, upon CCFC's return, that there should be a period of time to rebuild trust. No mention of ACL being for sale.

Have you got something that suggests different, other than your opinion?

This is a football forum, for me my club comes before being bothered about a 'council owned asset'.

Nice insult.

The club we support doesn't want the stadium!! FFS you have to stretch some way to keep your irrational hatred of your democratically elected council going dont you?

This thread is unbelievable with the amount of dodgy logic and dodging the question from you and Nick.

I haven't dodged anything? I was asked one and replied to it.

So what? There's a lack of professional football in Cornwall, Worcestershire, Warwickshire (!), West Sussex... Shall we move CCFC to one of those counties? That would be fine wouldn't it? Just business.

Nature abhors a vacuum, eh?

Tend to label it as an ecological niche nowadays. But yes, vacuum is fine still.

I didn't realise that I needed to interpret your argument, I thought reading what you had written would suffice, sorry about that. Here are a couple of stories from Les Reid where the Council are saying 'it's for sale, make an offer'. I have no argument that in the article you posted it clearly does not say its for sale, neither does it say it's not for sale, which is what you wrote before.

If the club doesn't want the stadium, then why have they expressed an interest in the Higgs share of ACL?

I've stood up for the council a lot in the past on this, but I think people's understandable hatred of SISU has blinded them to the fact that the club weren't (at the least) offered the same deal to CCFC as they've given to Wasps. It's also exposed some people's true feelings about franchising, which apparently is now OK as long as it doesn't happen to CCFC.

Finally, this dislike of SISU has stopped people looking critically as to what the deal actually offers to the city, and how it's likely in the long run to actually harm rather than benefit CCFC and CRFC (which again isn't going to help the city of Coventry much either).

There is certainly some irrationality and dodgy logic around, and a lot of it comes from the council this time.

Those articles come from October 2013, mine represents the situation as stated at August 2014.

I can if you wish, dig out the even older "Hell freezes over" (before we sell to SISU) quote from the council. It would make no more sense than what you're saying above.

You'd like to believe that the council were inviting offers from SISU for the stadium at the point when they were selling it to Wasps, but all of the evidence shows that the truth was otherwise.

They did, but they were told that "hell would freeze over" before a deal was done. You're as bad as R-B. Bleating about Sixfields but not a word about YOUR (they are not mine) council selling to a London team. And why do they want the Higgs' share then?

Not for shmmeee though. The asset comes first.

I think Tim scuppered that ( Healing ) with his confirmation that the JR and the stadium were going ahead - and he doesn't bluff.

"The door is always open" - AL, Council Leader. I would have kicked the door open in their situation and not say, "oh, I didn't realise that the lease wasn't up for sale" ( even if they used that excuse themselves - which I don't think they did as they are going for a new stadium anyway ).

Were they actually told that ( hell would freeze over ), or did that Phrase turn up in an email or council paper? Genuine question.

aren't SISU moving us to Warwickshire anyway? Are you for that?

I presume everyone on here like your good self will be happy with it (as you're not concerned with the Wasps' move), so yep, let's have our own stadium, shall we?

I very rarely agreed with shmmeee, but often found his posts thought provoking and very well put. Recently though he's coming across as a patronising tool, with his head firmly rammed up his own arse.

My concern with Wasps was that it was an obvious consequence of SISU messing around. Whether it is Wasps or another "Franchise" doesn't matter. It was clear that at some time a new tenant would have to be found - even the judge at the JR said that.

So have fun with your new stadium. Enjoy the hot dogs and the undisturbed views - and the seats that are not sky blue so as not to distract the top quality city players. Whilst you are there, thank Tim for his help with selling the Ricoh lease. The council are now one dodgy tenant less.

I'll give the new leaseholder a chance before slagging him/it off.

Why would you care about somebody who owns a lease of somewhere we don't play (if we did happen to randomly build one) ?

What a strange post. "You have fun going to watch CCFC, I am going to sit here and support somebody who owns a lease"

Did I say that?

I said I won't slag off the new leaseholders yet - because although I said that the council did get rid of a dodgy tenant, it could well end up that the new leaseholders prove to be dodgy as well.

In 4 or 5 years time ( assuming the stadium ever takes place ) it could well be that many people won't be bothered about CCFC anymore. The last loyal fans may well be sitting eating a hot dog in a small stadium in some godforsaken village in Warwickshire. Who knows... If that is the case - have fun.

I certainly am against moving out.

So anyway, the stand...

Does indeed show how one can be sold a pup. Original plans seemed sane, no reason Northampton can't support a more successful football team than its had recently, it's not overly small. Plus with rushden dead you'd suggest there are a few thousand up for grabs.

But as with arena 2000 the plans got downscaled and you seem to have ended up with a stand that's... Shit.
