Why is it a low?
Are went allowed to comment if we perceive that a player whose wages we pay isn't trying?

I think what I find quite baffling is how Shipley was getting chosen over Jones despite poor performances at AM. Jones has not done terribly on his few appearances this season and I'm sure he would have put more of a shift in.

If MR supposedly picks on merit, I just don't see how Shipley fits into that. He had maybe two decent games at LWB and that seems to have been enough to get him quite a few games (in a different position) that's he's been truly awful for and not only not looked good enough but looked like he didn't even want to be involved. Two decent games seems to be enough to override half a dozen totally inept ones.

I reckon I’ve seen worse on here. I’m also fairly confident that Shipley doesn’t read our comments and, quite correctly, would think ‘what the fuck do you lot know’ if he did.

Hope he plays at RB SBH and makes the family super proud.!

I often think about how good the original DT would be in the modern game at RWB; this might be part of my imagination but I'm sure there was a buzz at HR whenever DT was on the ball - and he was a RB in the early 80s - ahead of his time.

I read this and thought what a fucking ridiculous comment.
I wonder if you thought that when he scored in the playoff final?

Shipleys clearly lacking confidence, and he is currently struggling at Championship level, but does he really need shit like this off the fans. How will constant criticism help

We are at barebones and the manager picked him. Do you think Robins is a disgrace for picking him?

No I never accuse players of lack of effort that’s a severe accusation - also if the people believe that they are also accusing robins of gross negligence by selecting him

I understand Jones hasn't been fit. Otherwise surely he would have been playing.

That's true for the last few weeks, but Jones was last on the bench on the 5th March. I think he had a covid issue and a child as well. Of course at the moment it's all hands to the pump with injuries and a depleted squad which is seeing Shipley get more of an opportunity.

But after Jones was more likely to get on earlier in the season (albeit for a short amount of time), since Shipley was brought in a LWB and had a couple of decent games he has been favoured even when both have been available, even though his further appearances at AM could at best he can be described as ineffectual.

Like with Waghorn it's like he's trying to play him into some form despite being disappointing rather than giving others a chance to prove themselves. Even the games in the U23's people have been saying Shipley is having no impact. If I were in the U23's and saw a display like Shipley's yesterday and saw him being picked ahead of me, I'd find it pretty demoralising.

Great in League 2,didnt disgrace himself in League 1.However the Championship is a step too far for him.A parting of the ways is best for all parties at the end of the season.Good luck for the future Jordan and thanks for some good memories.

Imagine how bad some of the under 23’s must be if they never get chance in front of Shipley, Nagandu and Rus come to mind.

I think Robins, for whatever reason, seems reluctant to throw young players on, even when we’re home and dry or when the game is clearly lost.
Shipley can do things eg a great left peg at times. As has been said a few times, the best we’ve seen of him has been when he’s played at LWB and yet he hasn’t been picked to play there since. I seem to remember him being deployed, and struggling, as a winger previously.

I was at Peterborough and he did well but they were awful and in that day looked a league one team.

It seems pointless having some of the players he never uses you can win every game at under 23’s but it doesn’t give you a single point in the first team table.

Some people just thrive on being negative and moaning constantly. Your life must be a real struggle and pretty depressing at best. Like a herd of wild animals picking on what you perceive the weakest and easiest target. Do yourselves a favour, get a pet, or a hobby, fuck it why not try both.

Much love

I fear that should be get to a stage in the season where we are no longer capable of play-offs he will still refuse to put on youngsters (or even put them on the bench unless absolutely necessary).

Worse, I expect he would pick players who are then released at the end of the season.

Then next season complain we can't afford to risk putting in the younger players.

Why put in players he doesn't think are good enough?
I think Eccles would have featured regularly but for injury and Tavares is slowly starting to break through.
Robins has to believe they're ready and he clearly doesn't think the vast majority are.

We do still want to finish as high as we can though. If that's 8th or 9th whatever, it could help being trusted with the quality of loans we're able to bring in next season if they think we're genuine contenders.

I think Eccles looks promising too, but those who see him, Fabio or JJ as the messiah, only have a handful of games between them at this level. As many agree, Shippers was decent at a level below and the guys who see them in training every day, are probably the best judges of where they're at and may not be quite as good as some think. Let's face it if Walker or Waghorn had produced as expected then nobody calls for Fabio.

Not saying Eccles is the Messiah, just that I think it's a bit of a myth about Robins not putting young players in but obviously he needs to think they're up to it.

For example, Didn’t he give Bayliss a go when the coaches felt he wasn’t ready?

It would make sense on both sides to part as playing under 23’s football in your early 20’s is no good for the player.

The one observation I have with Shipley is that when he was playing at LWB (and he played very well v QPR as he did v Peterborough) he seemed to be more engaged with the game, with play happening in front of him and it felt like it played to his strengths a lot more. In that AM role, there’s a lot of running and moving involved where you don’t get the ball, and there isn’t an easy option for a pass because that area of the pitch is a lot more pressured. That’s when he’s at his worst and the ambling starts as he’s not getting much of the ball and seems to disengage. Not a great trait but semi-understandable.

Totally agree. He wasn't merely adequate against QPR and Peterborough, he was excellent. Technically he has the attributes for that position, and I would be comfortable with Shippers being a back-up to Bidwell in that position next season. However, as you say he is lost in midfield.

thats the point isn’t it. He’s just not physically strong enough at this level to compete in the midfield position he’s been asked to do
